Spent a long morning exploring many of the interesting sites around Burketown/Moungibi on Marrija, the 4WD Tag Along Tour. Our guide, Lurik, was softly spoken, delightfully amusing and extremely knowledgeable. He brought many aspects of Indigenous culture to light; I learnt so much and am always grateful to find experiences like this where questions are not only welcomed, but encouraged.

This tour is particularly good with kids as you’re in your own vehicle and they can nap etc as required with little disruption. Bring the camera, a notepad, extra water and snacks for the road and don’t miss the final stop — it’s stunning ♥️

Last night we went on the most amazing balloon flight over the Burketown area. Spectacular scenery over all the river systems & salt pans. You could see as far as the Gulf of Carpentaria. The rivers meeting the ocean. Definitely a bucket list thing to do. The pilot Clay Rix was great. Felt safe and in good hands. Deano. Was also great. Full of information about the surrounding area, the local aboriginal people etc. if your travelling this way, put a Balloons Aloft flight on your to do list. A MUST DO EXPERIENCE. Thanks to Clay, Deano & BALLOONS ALOFT.

The crew were absolutely fabulous over the three days we spent with them on the boat. We were doing scientific research and they were so knowledgeable of the Albert and Leichhardt Rivers. There was no place that they weren’t willing to try to take us. The best crew I’ve worked with - Highly recommend.

Had a great time in Burketown. These tours are excellent - I did the Sunset tour and the Fishing tour. Peter at the Info Centre and organiser is sensational under trying circumstances. With unprecedented demand he is working long hours and he goes out of his way to try to accommodate your needs. Without him I wonder whether the tours would actually happen. You just have to be patient and see what can be done. But once I got on the tours I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Caught plenty of fish and saw a great sunset on the river. Support local activities when you visit.

We had two excellent days on the river with Lurik and Zac. They are very competent boatmen with good knowledge of the river and environment. Peter in the office is an excellent organizer and a pleasure to deal with. This is a complex operation at the end of a long supply chain. Best to book with some advance notice.

Spent a day on the water with Yagurli Tours. What a blast. Our fishing guides, Liric and Mike, we’re very knowledgeable as to where the fish were biting and set us up well for a great day’s fishing. With 6 paying customers and 5 hours fishing we hauled in 50+kg of beautiful fish : Orange-spotted cod, bream, Queenfish, grunters, blue-nosed salmon. All great eating.
Can’t speak highly enough about our guides. Thanks guys for a very memorable day.
