We rented a 4WD camper with a roof tent (Desert Sands 4x4) from Campervan Village (CV) in Switzerland for 6 weeks. The camper had to be picked up from wicked campers in Darwin.

The quality of wicked campers is completely inadequate: an explanation of the vehicle was only given with answers to questions we asked; equipment was missing (spare canisters, poles for the rain/shade tarpaulin, bedding for the roof tent etc.); crockery and stove were old and very dirty; it was concealed that the vehicle had previously been in an accident. The body in the rear was a pure tinkering job (water tank leaked, battery was too weak to operate the cool box, the cool box could not be fully opened, etc.). The vehicle reported “Service due now” the day after we picked it up.

Dear wicked campers, this is no way to hand over a camper to a customer!

The only positive thing was the efforts of Mr Safari.

I picked up a 2 person camper from Wicked Campers Darwin. The vehicle is spacious and nice to drive on the road. It comes with everything you need for an awesome road trip. Safari at the depot was very helpful and made sure I had everything I needed when I left. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to see the sights on a budget.

I rented a van, the back FELL while I was driving at 100km/h, so scary, when i bring it back, i was 3min away, they told me that it was not my fault and not worry about my bond but 1 month later sent me a invoice of $1800. Do not rent their OLD and Damaged van unless you want to pay for the damaged caused by the persons before you or maybe duck tape the all van before using it...
So I have to pay because of a piece of the car who fell seriously Disgusting.

Was a bit hesitant at first considering the reviews of people not receiving their bonds back. However had a decent experience with the very friendly staff/owners and got the deposit back within the three days stated. Wasn’t expecting a luxury van for the price and associated history with wicked vans. It did the job, and lots of other travellers loved the paint job. Van got us nearly 1500km around the NT with ease. Bit hot and sweaty at night with the leather mattress pads, bring good linen and a good pillow! Check engine light popped on at some point, contacted the roadside assistance team who replied by text within 5min and sorted our issue. Overall a good experience!

Wicked no longer deserves its bad press. Coming from Paris, I didn't know about Wicked more than any other renter. The salesperson, Camille, made me great offers for a week rental in Darwin and 12 days on the east-coast. As I spoke to local travel agencies (looking for excursions) they warned me about the bad reputation of Wicked, stating that they don't work with them anymore. I confirmed this by looking on the internet. Getting cold feet, I took only the rental in Darwin with Wicked, hedging my risk on my entire trip by choosing a different rental agency on the East coast.
My experience was excellent. The car was in excellent condition and new from this year. Pictures attached. Price was much better than competition (but you have to clean the vehicle - take time for it). Maybe it depends on locations, then Wicked Darwin is great. Their Wicked is by far above the sad reputation. I would rent again from them, and I'm sad to see they have a sticky bad reputation.
Rental from August 11 2018 / August 18 2018. 4x4 with double rooftents. The front tent is especially convenient. The only drawback of this rental was the absence of real fridge, but the coolbox was good quality. Ice lasted for three days but things had to be placed in freezing-bags as everything starts to float in the melted ice-cubes at some point.

Picked up from Adelaide

Photos not the same as what we got
Expensive
Explicit graffiti covering interior and thin mattresses that aren’t comfortable
Smell of petrol when driving and dull back left indicator
Did get us from A to B and novelty of mystery machine was cool for a photo

Would give a 0 if I could! We read reviews before booking but just thought “that won’t happen to us”…

Arrived in Alice Springs to pick up our van. On arrival they had no automatic vans (we paid the Auto Guarantee fee 2 months prior to pick up). Rang Wicked Camper to which they replied “we can give you a refund of your vehicle”. We had a 14 day trip planned so that was not an option. After much persistence on the phone they agreed to give us an auto 4WD that was there.

We thought it was all good and well but little did we know it was only the beginning.

Car was filthy and had 1/4 tank of fuel in it.

Drove out of Wicked Camper’s and every single warning light was on in the car. Rang the owner who could not care less. Told us to “return it” or “just ignore it” after telling him we would have no idea if there was actually something wrong with the car as they were always flashing. Quickly learnt the car would not go over 100km/h at the best of times. Resorted to manually clicking the car up and down into gears as that was the only way to get it to go into a higher gear. This was not ideal in the NT due to road trains and caravans, and just extremely dangerous in general. Could not even overtake because the car had no go in it and would instantly drop to 60 if you tried to accelerate.

The boot handle was broken so had to manually reach inside and tug the mechanics to open it. Car fridge was filthy and stank. Car fridge could not slide out as it had collapsed inside the drawer, so had to manually pull it out every time.

Not to mention we were not told that the car key had a smart feature that allows the doors to be unlocked without clicking the key. Whilst we were sleeping in the rooftop tent with the car locked and key up there with us in Tennant Creek the car was easily accessed by locals and over $1000 of valuables were stolen. Spent the rest of our trip wrapping the key in foil every night.

Overall will never ever book with Wicked Campers again. The owner has no regard for customer safety or concerns and it is a complete waste of time and money.

I had a blast travelling with "johny feel good", we did 1200kms arround Darwin.
It didn't want to start at one point, called the red number and they guide me to fix the problem in no time. I also didn't have battery anymore one morning but easy fixed with the cables if an other car is arround.
Really easy to drive, park, sleep incognito, cook and even have a cold shower. (If it's working, I couldn't figure it out as i didn'treally needed it)
At 3 min from bringing it back, the rear bumper fell while I was driving at 100km, I stopped at the first light and unscrew the other side, but I don't know what happened, it was a bit scary.
