I found the new staff member to be more helpful and friendly than the one who has been there for a while. Instead of pushing ship and steelworks tours, I think it would be helpful if the visitor is asked what their interests are. This didn't happen in my case.

The ship tour was excellent, it was the highlight of the visit. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The ship looked interesting. We were able to climb up and down to see what's inside the ship.

The museum is nice too, but it is less interesting than the ship tour. It had lots of things displaying inside, but the only interesting thing for me was the train sets and the light house. There was a room with seats where you could watch the documentary and learn the history.

The shop with souvenirs was good too. But it could be better if it had more selections of the things to buy, maybe more different types of magnets related to Whyalla would be great.

There was a picnic and BBQ area outside too, which looked nice.

Overall a good place to go and visit if you come to Whyalla.

We booked in for the steel works tour and there were only 8 of us on the bus. The tour took us through the city and then into the steelworks. We were told to wear enclosed shoes but I'm not sure why as we never got off the bus. It would have have been good to have stopped at the site where the artillery gun is placed as the views were great. I recommend dokng this part of the tour yourself. Maybe the mood was low with the guide due to the current difficulties and uncertainty surrounding the financial viability of the steelworks but the guide wasn't very animated. Many questions were responded with 'I don't know'. I would have enjoyed more stories about the history or even the guides own working experience there. We didn't do the ship tour

Booked a steelworks tour over the phone with Liz, who was extremely helpful and polite, with plenty of information to offer about Whyalla. The steelworks tour was great, very interesting and an awesome experience to see inside the steelworks. Our tour guide on 14th August was great - I only regret that I can't recall her name!
