We dined at 6:15 on a Saturday night. There were tables available and we were seated immediately.

This pub had the most amazing feeling - it had been around d for a long time and we felt its significant history.

The fire was welcome in the cool weather and it added significant charm. This was extended by the historic photos in the walls.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

I had a steak that was perfectly cooked, with amazing chips and a salad. My beautiful wife had salmon and she paid it wonderful compliments, particularly that it wasn’t hidden in sauce or batter. It arrived in the amount of time that I expected.

The pricing was good and this extended to the drinks.

All of the meals were available as takeaway - I reckon the pizzas would be incredible.

Stopped in at Wheatsheaf Hotel on my way back home to Melbourne today, had a counter meal in the bar and it was exceptional. Staff were amazing, Great feed Great service will definitely be going back.

I ate a chicken curry here one night in the restaurant down stairs and it was really great. It tasted very authentic with exactly the right amount of spice. The accommodation upstairs is another story. The shared communal kitchens and bathrooms and laundry room were slimy and grotty. The shared fridges stunk. I came for work and planned on staying 10 nights but I left after the first night. My first night I was stuck in a tiny room which really didn’t bother me but the window wouldn’t lock so I was worried about security while I was at work. They did upgrade me to a much better room but I left because of the filth of the shared areas. Bins were overflowing and stinky and I couldn’t bring myself to use any of the appliances because everything seemed slimy. I’m sorry to say not a very good experience. They gave me my money back for the accommodation which I’m very thankful about.

Do not sleep here.

I booked a few weeks in advance over the phone, luckily didn’t pay in advance. A room with a shared bathroom.
When I arrived they didn’t have my booking but had vacancies. I was led to two room options, both only had a bed and some shelves. In both rooms the bedding was not clean! Crumbs, hairs, stains. The shelves were sticky and dirty. The shared bathrooms were also filthy and I un-inviting.
I took my things and found somewhere else to spend the night.

Brought 3 large pizzas and all of the bases were as had as cardboard and very little topping on them very disappointed as they use to be really good will not be coming back again

Very disappointing experience from this pub that had one of the best reputations in the district.

The lounge was poorly lit, the table was dirty, cutlery dirty, steak was tuff as boots.

We won’t be back.

Well all I got is what the heck was I just served.
Well below standard cooking skills food was extremly dry chicken and oiley ridden sauce. Garlic bread was a 2.50 one from aldi heated up but charged 8.00
Husbands Pizza was dripping with oil on a dry base.
