Friendly Staff, nice people, nice atmosphere, food was ok for a pub meal, reasonable prices, kids welcome, nice playroom with climbing equipment, busy for a Monday, still plenty of tables (Xmas season), off street parking plenty, enjoyed our visit! Will come again! Cathy, Melb.

I am a frequent reviewer of restaurants, enjoy the process and this will only be my second negative review. A negative review gives me no pleasure but hopefully it’s a wake up call for the owner and manager to observe the workings of their restaurant, hopefully an opportunity to improve. On entry the staff do not welcome customers, seem very reluctant to engage and leave people hanging in limbo for longer than what I consider to be reasonable. If it weren’t for our friends I would have promptly left. I’m surprised that the owners donot recognise what is happening in their establishment. This is Wonthaggi, it’s not the Ritz but a restaurant is more than food, it’s an experience and unfortunately the experience is poor. I ordered a medium rare Scotch fillet and got a well done steak. At $48 and as a customer I expect a whole lot better. Hopefully some customers will have a much better experience in the future, so please review and let other customers know when things improve.

The Pumpkin Parma
DO NOT eat this meal. The description in menu, sounds amazing. I could have done it like the menu said. Pumpkin was NOT roasted, there was no sauce except a drizzle I could see. It tasted terrible and dry. I did ask what it was like. The bar tender said he did not know although it was a favourite. And I also ate some grease proof paper as it was left under the Pumpkin!!! Left very, very disappointed.

Chips were absolutely delicious and so was the Parma. Great service as well and I highly recommend the whalebone for a meal.

I'm sure this place is jumping any other time than 20 mins before the kitchen closes. However the staff were really friendly and we ordered the fish & chips which were nice but as we had not sampled any other dishes before I can't comment except to say there weren't many to choose from. The place was very clean and parking was easy.
