Fabulously cooked and presented 3 course meal with excellent service. The only slight issue I had was the pork jowl while cooked to perfection was too porky for me i.e. strong pork odour. The presentation was flawless and the food combination was amazing. Who would have thought that persimmons would go so well with duck. We will be back and recommend Waters Edge to our friends. Loved the private Dome experience overlooking Lake Burley Griffin, on a beautiful, almost cloudless, last Autumn day in Canberra. Sonia

Absolutely wonderful night out with my lovely wife. Food was fantastic. I had the honey spiced Duck as a main. It was fabulous. My wife had lamb blackstrap which was equally good.

Paired the evening with a wonderful wine and the peace and lovely atmosphere in a dome for two with great service

Perfect way to spend a cold Canberra evening. So you again soon.

5 Star Dining and service! Pacing and size of meals for three course lunch perfect. The quiet and constant service of staff was unintrusive. 2 hours of dining that will never be emulated; let alone exceeded elsewhere.
Not listed in the noteworthy dishes were the scallops and pork jowls or the fish of the day. The mushroom entree was out of this world. The Amouse Bouche exceeded all expectations.

Okay, it’s expensive, but the service is A1 first class and the food is delish (1 hat rating) and the view is quite pleasing on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin. The great thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere, which is perfect for a romantic dinner for two (such as an anniversary) without being drowned in overbearing noise. Every dish was excellent, succulent, served at the perfect temperature, timed well, staff served with a smile and good communication. They even took our coats for us, rare service these days. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

Water's Edge Fine Dining Restaurant is a fantastic experience for anyone looking for exceptional food and service. The chef - Avtar Singh personally serves the guests and is incredibly friendly, making the dining experience even more special. The prices are very reasonable for a restaurant with such high standards. We were a group of six and ordered the set menu, and every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. As a hatted restaurant, it certainly lived up to its reputation! Located under the International Flag Display, the ambiance is perfect for a memorable meal. My family had a great time and now they believe fine dining is definitely worth trying. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience!

Spontaneous choice for fine dining at its best!
I was surprised with a private booking here by my partner who organized a private outside dome for the sitting of our visit.
Service from the get go was superb. Welcomed, served a fresh beverage and explained the process of the evening.
The set menu gave enough choices for even fussy eaters like me, with a fair selection of options that you can consider safe, with options also geared towards the new and experimental.
We thankfully tried a selection of both sides of the menu and let me just say, you can not go wrong with what ever you choose.
Drinks menu is vast, great range of wines, cocktails and standard drinks to keep you hydrated. Side options are minimal, but intended as the main meals are special enough on there own.
Overall! 5 stars right round!
Even if not for a private booking, the friendly and well trained staff, amazing food and location makes this a must try in my book👍

Exceptional!
We managed to book a private dome for two people, and it was worth it! I’m usually not very enthusiastic about fine dining because of how underwhelming it can be, but not in this case, the food was spectacular and each course was a generous portion. Every dish was a flavour adventure and exploring different things that I haven’t had before, ingredients that I thought sounded unusual but worked so well. The dome was amazing, as I prefer to be private and the waterview was quite beautiful. The service was amazing, very friendly easy going staff and they even did a complimentary “happy birthday” writing on one of the desserts for my partner, without me even asking for anything. I thought that was a nice touch.
Whenever I’m back in Canberra , I’d love to come back here. Thank you to all the staff at The Water’s Edge for the pleasant experience.

I’ve dined here twice now, and each visit has been an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, the staff were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely lovely—the kind of service that quietly elevates the whole experience.
The three-course meal was beautifully balanced and full of flavour. The spatchcock and mushrooms in the entrée were rich and satisfying, setting the tone perfectly for the mains: tender lamb and duck, both cooked with depth and care. Each dish felt crafted, not just cooked. Even the complimentary pumpkin soup—often a simple offering—was delicious and memorable.
Desserts were the perfect finish, thoughtful and indulgent without being overpowering. Everything came together with a sense of generosity and ease.
I’d go back in a heartbeat and truly can’t recommend this place enough.
