I booked accommodation in October for a weekend of diving. Unfortunately we could not make it. After speaking to Herb about our problem he suggested we keep the booking and I can contact him later to make a new booking. I emailed him immediately, thanking him for his kindness and repeated our conversation in the email. Now suddenly he refused saying we had only a week to re-book. Even though this was not mentioned in our conversation or on email. According to him NO BUSINESS will accommodate me on these terms, however Sundive Byron Bay was more than helpful today to help me out after 3 months.

We had an amazing time! It was a great price especially because we booked so last minute. It was in a great location, on a large area of land, but still close to Byron Bay. The sofa bed had some stains, so I recommend taking some spare bed sheets and a blanket, but the other bed rooms were quite clean.||||We were quite apprehensive about management having read the negative reviews beforehand. However, we had no problems with management. He never came into the property and only came to the door on the last day to collect a payment. We did not have any payment issues either. ||||Overall we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend this to others.

BEWARE: Warrailla Cottages isn’t quite a disaster, but it’s not the level of quality the photos and description make it out fo be (rented via byronbayaccomm-dot-net, photos there & on Google).||||The photos were taken when the place was freshly renovated, 11+ years ago, and it’s had little if any non-essential maintenance ever since. It’s very tired looking, and basically just depressing to be in.||||The BBQ is totally rusted, looks like it’s never been properly cleaned (black charcoaled fat everywhere), and the electric-lighter doesn’t work so you have to dick around with a stick-lighter from underneath.||||The window fly screens are damaged & poorly fitted with many broken clips, so mozzies are impossible to avoid. BYO mozzie coils & bug spray, because neither are supplied.||||The in-ground salt water chlorinated swimming pool sounds attractive, but the reality is quite something else. The owner doesn’t run the pump/filter long enough per day, so the water is milky and stale-smelling - that’s the catch with salt water chlorination - it only chlorinates through the electrodes when the pump is running, duh. The immediate surrounds are covered in nearby tree/bush debris, and the chairs and table are covered in dirt. I took one look and walked away; thankfully the beaches are only 5-15 mins drive away.||||The kitchen utensils are a basic set; and there are only 3 small bowls, 3 large soup bowls, and 6 plates. Each cottage can accommodate up to 8 people, so that doesn’t add up. The kitchen in the houseboat we just spent the previous week in was better equipped than this one.||||Stained damaged floors. Balcony decking that’s cracked, perishing, and mouldy. Sliding fly-screen door that doesn’t completely close (more mozzies). The glass door for the shower is gone, replaced by an annoying plastic curtain. Some of the windows don't open/close properly.||||It isn’t the fault of the property/owner, but because local cell-towers are behind distant hills, reception is poor, so the only viable internet available in this area is NBN-via-satellite, so latency is horrendous (700+ms ping times), and it drops out when it rains hard, which is somewhat of a bummer when you’re stuck in this dreary place with little to do when it’s raining wombats & emus.||||Thankfully all the appliances work fine (fridge, microwave, clothes washer, air-con), and the location is pleasant (overlooks a macadamia farm with rolling hills in the distance), and has an isolated feel and quietness, great bird life, yet only 5-15 mins drive from Suffolk Park, Byron Bay, Lennox Head, & Bangalow.||||The only consolation is that at $180/night, considering this is the Byron Shire area with its ridiculous prices, Warriwilla Cottages are priced appropriately (except for the xmas/NY week when per-night prices more than double - lol, no thanks), so I guess we got what we paid for.

After a ruckus with our pre-booked accommodation at Belongil Beach House for my friend's hens weekend we were in trouble with no accommodation on the first day of the school holidays!||||We went to the Byron information centre and the lovely lady at the desk suggested Warriwillah to us. She explained to the owner the dramas we had and the fact were were a hens weekend and he still welcomed us with open arms!!||||Just 10 minutes out of Byron Bay we stayed at a gorgeous cottage with fabulous views, lots of room, plenty of beds, a pool, a big veranda and everything else you could want!!||||We were so lucky to have found accommodation on such short notice, let alone the best place we could have possibly hoped for! I'll be telling all my friends and family, and plan to go back for another holiday! Thank you Herb, you made my friend's hens weekend the best it could be!!

I would not recommend this establishment to other people for the a number of reasons:||||- we stayed there for 5 days and the owner entered the cottage three times while we were staying there, he just expected it would be ok by us for him to walk in on us while we were staying in his cottage||||- the day before we checked out i discovered rat & mouse faeces as well as a used condom(!) on a wall beam no more than a metre away from my bunk bed. You can imagine our disgust when we found this. We informed the owner as soon as possible and he couldn't even muster an apology, let alone a discount on the room.||||- He didn't confirm our booking in writing - it was partly our fault for not ensuring this, but he hiked up the rent on our cottage, saying there were more people than what we originally booked, which was NOT the case, but we had nothing in writing to prove it.||||- We recently discovered that another friend also stayed here previously and had the same issue with the owner hiking up the price after they arrived.||||NOT RECOMMENDED!

We rent the cottage for 8 people and we all fit in it perfectly. It has everything you need for a weekend, location is good and very pretty surroundings as well. The owner is super chill, even tho he's old you might have some difficulties to understand him but it's all because of his age, he's actually really nice and easy to deal with. We would totally recommend this place for big groups of people|
