I want to Thank the gentlemen that was there today ( 2nd August, 2025 ) My son is 14 yrs old & Autistic and is fascinated with war memorabilia. Every Saturday he has respite with a worker who takes him on an outing. Today due to the Armory in Lithgow being closed he search online and found Oberon War Museum. I'm so glad he did! He came home so happy!! He told me the man at the museum was a volunteer and he knew ''soooo much''c he told me how everything was donated from the community and that it was run by volunteers.
You made a young fellas day today, Thankyou.

If you're in Oberon don't think twice about going into the War Museum.

Everything you'll see in their is donated by actual veterans; even the uniforms that the mannequins are wearing have been worn by soldiers.

It's a wonderful place where you'll gain knowledge about all the wars & the impact of it on families.

The person we met at the Museum is a veteran & is very helpful if you ask a question.

Well worth a visit. Neville took me through today. Many great stories, like the history of the famous photo of Australian troops on the pyramids in Cairo, captured flags, swords, the guy who got hit with a land mine but lived. The room with all the displays is not big, but the all personal stories of the families of Oberon are what makes it.

A new shed has been erected for the display since I last visited ... it is a truly wonderful display. Neville walked around with me explaining things and sharing stories ... a very special experience ... thank you so much Neville.

Great to see some dedicated ex service men who run this museum on a volunteer basis. Great to chat with as they have first hand experience/knowledge of what happened during some of Australia's darkest days. Well worth a visit if you are in Oberon.
