Perfect location near the wonderful One Mile Beach, and also has a great pool. Our family has enjoyed four Christmas's here and with the new owners it’s now even better.
Antony and Ines have done a fantastic bringing the gardens to life and we look forward to going again in future.

What an amazing place! We stayed in the beach house which had plenty of room for our two families. We loved relaxing in the hot tub under the green canopy of trees, and family BBQs on the deck. Short walk or drive to SO many incredible beaches and other activities. We were there four days but could have easily spent longer & will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Wanderers as a long weekend getaway for our anniversary. The tranquil location, the clean and well-kept cottage, and the outdoor hot tub were highlights. And the visits from the possums! Proximity to the Tomaree Coastal Walk was also great - we trekked from One Mile beach to Boat Harbour, with the trail head only around 500m from the resort. We hope to return with the kids in future.

Our recent two-night stay at Wanderers Retreat Port Stephens was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the experience was incredible. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the hot tub, which provided the perfect relaxation after exploring the beautiful surroundings.

Ines, the host, was outstanding—always available and incredibly helpful, making sure every aspect of our stay was perfect. The attention to detail and the warm hospitality truly set this retreat apart.

We are already looking forward to our next visit. A perfect getaway in every sense!

We enjoyed a fantastic few days at Wanderers Retreat. It is cosy & nestled in a beautiful part of the rainforest. We loved the close proximity to the beach, the pool, local attractions & the beautiful walks! The hosts were welcoming & responsive. We highly recommend staying here for a beautiful get away. All we can say is Peaceful, Relaxing,..better than any hotel!!! We had a great few days/ nights there...Cottage clean, hot tub 🫠 owners are cool 😊 location > few minutes to 1 Mile Beach ⛱️...5 minute drive to Birubi Beach 🏖 12 minutes to Port Stephens...sand dunes...I could go on....we will be back in 2025....and for an Irish 🇮🇪 man to get so close to feeding Possums, 😀

Wanderer’s Retreat is a hidden gem for anyone seeking a peaceful or active getaway. Nestled among a stunning melaluca forest, this retreat offered a perfect blend of comfort, serenity and access to many beaches and hiking/mtb trails. We stayed in the beach house accommodation which was spacious and well-appointed, with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. The large spa and bbq were very popular with our families as was 1 mile beach only a few hundred metres away.

I looked forward to visiting and being in the rainforest to relax and see the wildlife which was the highlight of my stay, lots of birds and butterflies and possums who came up onto our balcony. But I do feel disappointed with our stay here.||Upon arrival I found there to be a composting drop toilet that was not clearly advertised in the booking. We found an empty packet of chips in the compartment of the coffee table. The window sills were dusty and there were dead insects there. Underneath the bed was very dusty and my partner found cutlery that had been left there. I also found the bathroom mirror to have dirty marks. The cutlery and crockery had to be re washed as they had not been cleaned properly. This showed me that the cabin had not been properly cleaned since the previous guests, and that the cabin was not well maintained. |I read on the information sheet on the fridge to "clean up after yourself and leave the place as you found it" So then I thought that the previous guests had most likely done the washing up and left their rubbish behind.|Unfortunately when I walked around the retreat and when we arrived back from our outings there was a strong smell of what I thought was sewage, I also noticed this when sitting on the balcony occasionally. I feel mislead by the advertising of this place as being a Luxury Retreat. Very overpriced for what I experienced. I expected better service for the price we paid, and a clean and comfortable environment.|If the accommodation was more transparently advertised and price appropriate there would be less reason for disappointment.
