Volstead Repeal is an excellent place to enjoy some finest whiskies around the world. The drinks we tried were marvellous and were made perfectly. Staff have great knowledge of drinks — especially whiskey. Food was great, served quickly — especially for it being a busy night. A place to explore and have a great experience. Enjoy!

This place is like a hidden gem, seriously. Walked past it twice before realizing the entrance is this barely-marked door, and once you’re in, it feels like you’ve discovered something secret. You step into this dark, moody space where every seat is wrapped in deep green leather. Feels kinda like one of those old-school New York bars that only insiders know about. It's not actually underground, but the vibe is just as cool and discreet, with low lights and cozy booths.

Drinks are on the pricier side, but it’s clear they put some serious care into them. Had an Old Fashioned (perfectly balanced) and tried a spicy margarita that had just the right kick. The bartenders definitely know what they’re doing and had a few off-menu suggestions if you’re up for trying something different. The menu is a bit hard to read in the dim light, but you can always ask; they’re pretty friendly and happy to make recommendations.

Great secret spot for a drink. Honestly thought about giving a review of not because this is my favourite bar in Canberra and I wanted to gatekeeper it.

The staff are very knowledgeable if they make an amazing drink. They also have wonderful tasty nights and events. Definitely a recommended spot to go

We came to Volstead Repeal for a boozy rendezvous after work. The bar is concealed near the rear of the Yamanoshi building. The interior is styled like a speakeasy lounge bar with open tables and lounges. Bar and table service is informative and courteous. The friendly bar staff provide good drinks advice if the menu does not appeal. Love the Old Fashioned. Intimate, cosy, and discreet.

The best cocktail and whiskey bar in Canberra and it’s not even close. Hundreds of whiskeys, the best martinis and cocktails that go beyond the standards you’ve seen a hundred times before. The staff are superb, friendly, passionate about what they do and highly knowledgeable, taking the time to chat with you about any drink that piques your interest. Can’t fault it.
