Epic riding with great hosts! We spent 5 days riding in the South of France with Steve and Julia and can't wait to return for another visit. Their local knowledge, fun and positive attitudes, great bikes, and excellent recommendations made for an unforgettable trip! We especially enjoyed the narrow winding roads, breathtaking vistas, castles, viewpoints and local town gems we wouldn't have otherwise found.
Thank you for a wonderful tour!

Excellently organised and planned by the Veloroo Team, the Northern Downs High Country Gravel Bike Tour is fantastic exploration of some of the best countryside this region has to offer. The riding took in a diverse range of landscapes, views towns and road surfaces which means there is plenty to be amazed by.
The team have put together a great set of routes over the few days of the tour which provide a nice mix of gentle rolling sections, challenging but rewarding uphills and exhilerating downhills. The ride support means there is no need to worry about getting to/from the ride, your gear is safe and there is assistance close by if required.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the tour and with a fantastic guide, pleasant company and great countryside to ride through, this was the perfect way to spend a weekend on a bike.

i have lived on the Sunshine Coast for the past 5 years and am familiar with the roads and rides... BUT Steve proposed an adventure through the Mary Valley, which was absolutely stunning!

The VeloRoo tour was lead extremely well, with updates on the roads ahead and how each section should be approached.

If you are looking for a tour guide to take you on a ride, I highly recommend VeloRoo.

Just finished a gravel ride at Goombungee with Steve and Julia from Velo Roo. Cracker of a day. Great course selection by Steve, taking in quiet, scenic and well made gravel roads. Gravel perfection!
I have also ridden with VeloRoo in the Langedoc region in the South of France taking in stunning scenery,, rolling through vineyards and beautiful medieval hilltop villages. Their knowledge of local restaurants is an added bonus!
Can't reccomend VeloRoo tours with Steve and Julia highly enough. They are professional, friendly and personable.
If you are planning an overseas bike tour, I can only say, get in touch with them now.

What an amazing experience! Celebrating our 25th anniversary, watching my husband climb so many famous Tour de France climbs was a real treat! Steve & Julia were so welcoming upon our arrival at the train station and it just got better from there. We connected quickly with the other cyclists and one other non-cylist, all from different parts of the world. I especially enjoyed our meal times, chatting, laughing and getting to know one another. Riding along with Julia in the support van, each day more beautiful than the last was spectacular. I loved being able to watch my husband conquer his bucket list climbs and was able to get great videos and photos of him accomplishing them. Unfortunately the photos just don't do it justice! The beauty of the mountains, especially during the change of seasons was a sight I won't soon forget. Not knowing too much about cycling, the tour seemed well organized and the cyclists had everything they needed from great bikes & gear, to great guides and great support along the routes each day. The experience left us longing for more and has my husband already looking into a Spain trip that we hear through the grapevine Veloroo might soon be planning. Fingers crossed!! I highly recommend using Veloroo for your next cycling tour!

We did a Pyrenees trip with Veloroo and it was incredible. We did four days of riding at our own pace, climbing seven peaks from the iconic cols to hidden gems with views and riding that were every bit as good, or better, than the climbs we had seen on broadcasts of the Tour.

Luz-Saint-Sauveur is a perfect home base. It is a lovely, pastoral town with all the amenities and a relaxed setting perfect for after-ride beverages while we reviewed all our photos.

We loved riding in late September. Without the huge crowds, we had the roads to ourselves. We could climb at our own pace without worrying about other riders and without having strangers in any of our pictures! The towns were quiet which meant that we could wander in peace and not have to worry about reservations or waiting for a table. Not to mention the fact that we didn’t have to contend with very many vehicles on the roads. In fact, on a few rides, I can’t remember passing a single car on the entire climb, and descent!

Our riding was particularly amazing because the leaves were changing and the Fall colours made the scenery even more incredible. At higher elevations, there was snow, so the mountains looked amazing.

This was our second trip with Steve and Julia. We were nervous before the trip because we weren’t sure that our legs would hold up to these iconic climbs. Steve allowed us to ride at a comfortable pace for us. He is a great motivator and really helps us to relax and enjoy the ride.

Our rides were made all the more enjoyable because we knew that Steve and Julia were taking tons of pictures! We could take our own photos when we wanted to, but we could focus on turning over the pedals instead of grabbing the perfect shot of a rainbow, or a panoramic view of the Pyrenees.

While we spent most of our time riding with Steve, Julia’s work in the support vehicle was so appreciated. She has an uncanny way of being in exactly the right place when you need a water bottle refill or to take off a layer of gear. Plus, she also takes some amazing photos when we don’t even know she is photographing us.

The accommodation and meals were also amazing. Steve and Julia have found a great spot in Luz-Saint-Saveur that is comfortable and well-kept. All our meals were excellent and we really enjoyed dining with Steve and Julia after a day in the saddle.

A highlight from our trip was our off-day because it was so unexpected. We could tell from the weather forecast that we would be getting a dump of rain, but it allowed us to wander around town, shop, and sightsee. We stopped at a brasserie for lunch and noticed a bunch of cars with bikes on the top. Soon, we saw team vans and buses. We didn’t think much of it but assumed that it was a training day for local riders.

When we returned to the hotel, we mentioned it to Steve and Julia. A few minutes later, Steve excitedly called us and told us that a U23 UCI race was passing through town that afternoon. Instead of enjoying an afternoon off, Steve and Julia jumped into action. They found the route and we jumped into the van to find the perfect place to watch the race and cheer the riders on. We got to see some of the best young riders in the world without swarms of camper vans!

Another highlight was climbing Troumouse. We spent the morning climbing Tentes and as we did, a small Porsche club passed us. We saw them at the summit and chatted about the cars and enjoyed the scenery. After our descent, we stopped for lunch at Gavarnie, only to see the Porsche club at another table. When finished, we headed out and over to climb Troumouse. About five kilometers from the summit, the Porsche club passed us again! This time they honked and cheered, shocked that we were climbing up to the summit of a second climb.

We also love the beautiful Veloroo kit we were given during the trip. Riding in it now that we are back home is a great way to remember our amazing rides in the Pyrenees.

If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being in hotel quarantine, reach out to VeloRoo and get yourself a bike. Their spin bike is absolutely brilliant, great quality, sturdy, responsive and really helps keep you motivated. I ordered at 10pm and it was delivered by early the next morning. Very quick to respond to orders and questions and super professional. Can't recommend highly enough.

Hiring a bike from VeloRoo to help pass the time in hotel quarantine was the best decision I made. Julia was very easy to deal with and responded to questions promptly. The bike itself was in great condition and the addition of a sweat towel was greatly appreciated.
I highly recommend using their services.
