I was really very concerned about the lack of staff available when visiting a family member recently, we constantly had dementia patients walking into the room confused and no staff in sight to assist these poor souls. Multiple times we had to venture a fair distance within the building to find one, this really impacted on the time we got to spend with aforementioned terminal loved one as we live 4hrs away and could only be in Hervey Bay for the day. It wasn't like the couple of staff we did see were doing nothing, they were busy with patients, and I imagine that a lot of these patients would take a lot of time to settle, help where they need it etc. I would be very interested to learn your staff to patient ratios.
