UPDATE: This Travelex card has been awesome overseas. I cannot fault it apart from the time it takes for money to reach your account once you’ve done a top up, and the top up method is a tiny bit clunky but definitely workable. Similar to when you pay someone with pay ID. You just have to be prepared and do things ahead of time not on the spot when you need to use the card. It has been reliable and extremely useful, and accepted everywhere we went with no problems at all. It’s easy to see how much you have in each currency via the app. I will definitely get this card again when I travel. Below is what I wrote when I first signed up. Zero regrets so far.

My first experience at Travelex at Woden was the best I could have possibly asked for. The minute I walked in, I was greeted with a beaming smile and a lovely honest open face. I knew I had made the right choice. Violet was extremely knowledgeable, competent and able to answer every question I had. She is very well versed in the money world and foreign currencies with a wealth of knowledge and experience behind her. Impressive!!

I was able to get three different foreign currencies instantly, no 5 business-day wait as with the Bank. I found the Travelex service so impressive I signed up for a card as well, which was provided on the spot. Violet guided me through the whole card process and was patient and generous with her time. I found the app really easy to use and she made sure I didn’t leave until I was happy with how everything worked. I’m confident this is going to be a very safe and easy card to use overseas. I’m also happy to have access to a 24 hour helpline whilst overseas.

Violet was completely open about the fees and charges, and made the point that, as a smaller business, it is costly to get multiple foreign currencies and have them available on the day, and provide a global support service with a card.

If the exceptional service I received is any indication of the experience I’m going to have using the card then I’m not worried at all. I will update my review when I return.

I would highly recommend the Travelex service for obtaining foreign currency instantly, and believe the travel money card will be a great option for me.
