Check in went smoothly and was friendly.
Parking is outside of your assigned room which is always nice.
Location is walking distance to pubs and cafes which is a positive.
The motel is typical of old style, run down country motels. I booked last minute on a holiday weekend so the room price was $181 which is not cheap for a cheap motel. Definitely overpaid for the room given what it was.
The bed was so hard that I couldn’t sleep and the pillows were flat. I’m aching all over now.
The shower needs an overhaul to replace tiles etc. The sink was cracked.
The fan above the shower could do with a good clean.
The room appeared to be freshly painted so some effort to maintenance may have been made. Sheets were clean.
Hot water was scoldingly hot so maybe that needs to be turned down. The shower remained at a constant temperature which was great.
The spare blanket in the cupboard had been thrown in there , obviously used by a previous guest and not cleaned and folded after their stay.
Options for accommodation in Holbrook are slim pickings so maybe there isn’t a lot of incentive for motels to up their game.
I wouldn’t have been able to spend a second night at this property 😞

The good -
Central and quiet. Spacious.
The not so good -
Not a deal breaker but, Curtains in poor shape and need replacing.
The bad -
Bathroom floor tiles filthy, shower filthy and mouldy and obviously not cleaned, ceiling fan grubby and making scraping noise. Cracked vanity basin.
Need to employ new cleaners who actually clean!!’
Overall the bathroom needs a redo. Not up to rental standard at all!!!!

Location in thexmain street of Holbrook was great. the rooms are very basic. We found a used towel still hanging on the hooks in the bathroom. The base of the bath was rather slippery and the bed base was smaller than the mattress!!!! . . luckily we only stayed the one night. I wouldn't stay there if I had mobility problems as the carpark is gravel/stones

No frills old style Motel. Was clean and comfy and good for a one night stay when travelling between Melbourne and Sydney.

Convenient location. We have used this place as a single night stopover many times off the Hume Highway, on the way to Sydney or further. Very friendly and helpful owners. The rooms themselves are basic, but clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced. Nice shower. We've often arrived after reception has closed and have had no issues or delays with gaining access to our rooms.

It was basic and comfortable. The shower was great. We found the place really quiet and slept well. The room was very clean but the shower floor was a little slippery for us oldies. The local club was great for dinner and then we slept well and then moved on to our next accommodation.

I was very surprised when I went to have my morning shower to discover the old and disgusting state of the shower recess. I abstained. This is not just a case of a poor clean (although the soap dish had not been wiped), it is a case of that the whole shower recess should be replaced.|Very unfortunate, given we have stayed and eaten in Holbrook on many occasions over the last 30-40 years.|This time last year I travelled in NZ for 3 weeks and was amazed at the quality of their motels. NZ is leaving travelling in Australia for dead. Both countries complain of the difficulties and costs of getting workers in regional areas, yet NZ manages to do so.
