Partner and I came for dinner the other night. Got garlic prawns, entree salt and pepper squid & the 500g chicken schnitzel. Food was decent, a bit pricey as a non member, 100$ for the three meals, could be better but wasn't the worst

Nice meal, albeit a bit expensive for what it was. The kicker being charged $2.50 for tomato sauce for my child's chips, on top of the $18 kids meal! Relaxed atmosphere and decent cocktails.

Had the lunch special chicken schnitzel and it was great! $18 including sauce chips and coleslaw was great value for money. Schnitzel was golden crunchy. Perfect!

We are at The Tradies for lunch ๐Ÿ˜‹, my friends are there for the first time in the club.

The wonderful staff at the entrance helped us to the club ๐Ÿ˜€, thanks ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ’™.

In the dining room ๐Ÿ˜Œ, helpful staff show ๐Ÿ‘Œ our table ๐Ÿ˜€.

Back at the Tradies after five years, reviewing the club's new look and what they offer.

The Tradies are over 61 years old this year and had their anniversary โค๏ธ last year 1964 - 2024 in Dickson for 60 years.

Building Workers Industrial Union and the Operative Painter and Decorator's Union opened the Canberra Tradesmen's Union Club in 1964.

A member of the staff said as it is June now we have Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ in June and July every winter ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜‰, all welcome to have a wonderful night ๐ŸŒ™ ๐Ÿ˜€ at Tradies.

In the Tradies is a Barbershop, open six days a week, book the Barbershop.
The Tradies Group has Quality Hotel Dickson in Dickson has 83 superbly spacious rooms, book your room ๐Ÿ˜€.

Free undercover parking is available for visitors and members next to the club and undercover parking at Quality Hotel ๐Ÿจ Dickson. And many more variety of facilities.

About 15 years ago Tradies had trams ๐ŸšŠ ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿ˜ข, which were home to a series of vintage rattlers from several capital ๐Ÿ˜€ cities, serving as dining cars within ๐Ÿ˜€ the club. There have been eleven teams in the building for years (only one ๐Ÿ˜ณ remains).

Lunch was a gem ๐Ÿ’Ž ๐Ÿ˜‹, the chicken ๐Ÿ” Schnitzel meal, melted in your mouth ๐Ÿ˜‹. We had a cappuccino and beer ๐Ÿบ ๐Ÿ˜‹ and soft drinks.

Tradies Essence Restaurant โ€“ A Prison Camp Dining Experience!
1 February 2025

Let me paint a picture for youโ€”youโ€™re in a World War II prisoner camp. Youโ€™re handed a plate, told to eat what youโ€™re given, no extras, no modifications, no complaints allowed. Sounds grim, doesnโ€™t it? Well, welcome to Tradies Essence Restaurant!

I ordered their Legendary 500g Loaded Schnitzel with BBQ Meat Lovers topping, which they shamelessly charge $35 for members and $42 for non-members. Already absurd for a simple schnitzel, but the real kicker? I asked for extra sauce, fully willing to PAY for it, and was flat-out refused. "Standard portion only," they said, as if sauce was being rationed like war supplies. Whatโ€™s next? A ticketing system for condiments?

Meanwhile, Dickson is ALIVE with fantastic food options. Itโ€™s Chinese New Year, and the entire district is bustling with street food, restaurants serving premium seafood and meats at reasonable prices, and places that actually know how to please their customers. But here? At Tradies? They disregard competition, act like theyโ€™re running a luxury dining experience, and treat paying customers like second-class citizens.

They think theyโ€™re premium? Are they joking? If they keep running their business like a wartime ration camp while real restaurants in Dickson thrive, theyโ€™ll soon be left with nothing but empty tables and a ruined reputation.

Wake up, Tradies, or prepare to be forgotten.

We used to come here for the wonderful (and cheap) snitzel meal. Now standard cafe prices and the snitzel was not hand made - just a typical pre-formed, deep-fried version.
Service was slow (I had to check on our meals which took 30 mins to come out) and I saw other people who ordered after us being served before us.
All in all a little disappointing considering what we used to get on previous occasions.

G'day, I am having a few beers at Runaway Bay Tavern. I have had an awesome time being served a few beers by a Top Barmaid Michelle.
I have been to a few pubs in my 50yrs of rehydration therapy and she is up there.
I don't think you can improve on excellent service as she is way up there.

Go up
