An excellent venue for a relaxing meal out. We had dinner on Mother's Day and were welcomed into this eclectic bar/restaurant by very friendly and efficient staff. Our evening was enhanced with a trio of excellent jazz musicians. My wife and I shared an entree of Blackened Cauliflower, followed by a main of Lamb Shoulder and finished up with an Affogarto each. The food was well prepared and presented but most of all tasted wonderful. A most enjoyable and memorable evening.

Dropped in for an evening glass of wine, lucky there was 5 mins left of happy hour! Winning! The wines available on the happy list were excellent, I had the Temperanilo and the better looking of us had Pinot Grigio. The bartender was plenty of fun and a budding model. Great atmosphere in beautiful Sawtell.

I dined at The Spare Room several years ago when I had a wonderful experience and loved the seafood pasta. I'm not sure if the chef or management has changed but when I recently visited again the food was very disappointing particularly considering the prices. In particular the prawn pasta (which really seemed like boiled spaghetti with a few chopped up pieces of prawn and sprinkle of parsley) for $38 or so. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the pasta on the plate it was served but see attached photo for the bulk of the pasta in the takeaway box.

The menu was also very limited for my vegetarian friends (which it wasn't before). I will however mention that the tiramisu was great!

Really hoping management try to make a change and bring it back to the excellent restaurant it used to be.

Friendly, attentive staff and a solid menu that caters for vegetarians as well. The bar has a good range of beers and cocktails. The Spare Room frequently has great live music. All up, it’s a welcoming spot with a great atmosphere.

Hubby and I went here for the first time for our Anniversary. I love the style of the restaurant and the service was great! The food was amazing too! My *only* comment is to have the live entertainment facing the tables. Unfortunately, the area we were sitting in was to the left of their set up, but they were not facing the crowd (hard to do with several dining rooms I know, just what I noticed). I really enjoyed their music, just would’ve loved to have a better vantage point 🤗🫶🏻

We came in here to grab a few cocktails at the bar. Riley and Tom are fantastic bartenders who made great recommendations for cocktails and food. They have a live Jazz music on Sunday's which are great! Service is quick and there's a great buzzy atmosphere. I would highly recommend their pizzas too!

The food was ok, but definitely disappointing for the price. The steak was overcooked and we didn’t enjoy the Italian slaw. The prawn pasta was quite tasty though. Service was great - friendly, prompt staff. We attended on a night when they were hosting a live jazz band which was definitely the highlight. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a nice atmosphere.
