Oh my gosh!

What an amazing kayaking trip with Glenn and School of Yak.

We had 7 teenagers go with Glenn on the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Trip last weekend.

Starting off, the teenagers were novice kayakers (many had never been on a kayak before). One person capsized just 2 mins into going on his kayak.

Over the course of the weekend, we did capsizing training, was taught the correct kayaking “form” and strokes by Glenn, learnt sea navigation, we kayaked and stay overnight at a camp ⛺️

I must say, it was one of the most unforgettable moments of my life. 🏞️💦🛶

The teenagers enjoyed the trip thoroughly , and by the end were navigating the bends of the Myall Lake as a team.

It was incredible to have such knowledgeable a kayak instructor with Paddle Australia Qualification. He provided our gear and kayaks, and had such a brilliant sense of humour.

Glenn was also super knowledgable on the birds in the area. 🦅 We even saw a mated pair of White Belly Sea Eagle. 🤩

Highly recommend The School Of Yak for anyone looking for a kayak adventure in the Myall Lake and beyond.

This morning I attended a kayaking class run and subsidised by Lake Macquarie Council and Glenn’s kayaking school. I have the self esteem of a …. Person with no self esteem and Glenn was very patient and the humour, I didn’t notice my lack of self esteem. I’d give anything to have another half inch on my legs and arms it would make getting in and out so much better but thanks to Glenn he was great with all the instructions and safety procedures. Thank you Glenn, loved it this morning.🙏🏻

My fiancé Vil suggested that we go kayaking since we both have never done it before and my youngest brother Thomas came with us too which it was his first time also. I have to say at first I struggled for a bit at the beginning but thankfully Glen was there to talk me through on how to paddle and ways to control the kayak and Ivan also gave me more training tips on how to paddle properly etc. Eventually I gotten better the more I paddled. Glen and Ivan were both lovely and they had a lot of good humour! They are always up for a good chat too! I would definitely recommend going with them! If anyone is looking to go kayaking or wanting to learn please don’t hesitate to contact them! Overall, my fiancé and my brother enjoyed their first time too and it was definitely worth the sightseeing and arm workouts!

Was our first time kayaking, Glenn was a great teacher telling us all we needed to know before taking us out in Newcastle Harbour. We had a brilliant time, Glenn was very knowledgeable about the area and its history, and a good sense of humour too. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Did kayaking for the first time yesterday and It was an amazing experience. I really wanna say Thank-you to our instructor Glen . Glen was very patient with us , and at the same time funny, professional and very helpful.
Definitely recommend to everyone and we are going back again next month.

Wonderful experience! I and my wife paddle in a double kayak. The instructor shown us how to paddle forward, return, reverse and balance. We took a 5 km routine around Newcastle Harbour. Interesting and safe. Visitor should do it in a beautiful day (no rain, no strong wind), and you should book in advance.

A great big thank you to Glen of School of Yak for a wonderful morning spent paddling along Cockle Creek. Glen was a fantastic guide and a patient teacher, with much local knowledge of the environment and its history. We were very lucky to have sighted a beautiful Osprey who had just caught lunch and was settling in for a fishy feast, allowing us heaps of time to observe her/his fabulousness.

Exceptional family holiday experience! Glenn offers an absolute bargain for a safe, entertaining, and educational water activity. Mum, Dad, son (7) & daughter (11) all with zero kayaking experience had so much fun on the water, full of laughter and great family photos. Thanks Glenn for making our trip to Newcastle a memorable one! We’ll be back!
