We were not advised about the process for late check in so getting to our room was stressful, however the young lady who took our call was very helpful. When I asked at reception the next day and said we didn’t know the reception was closed they said they had tried to contact us but because we booked through Agoda they couldn’t make contact. One of the towels had filthy stains on it so my husband had to go down to reception and get another towel. Had it been after hours that would not be an option. I didn’t trust the other towel was clean and had to use my beach towel. I would not recommend this hotel . The location can be quite handy for shops but to access taxis you have to arrange pick up on side streets.

The staff in the accommodation were super helpful and friendly with our whole experience.
The staff upstairs balcony was on her phone so we did not stay for a drink, we popped downstairs and enjoyed a drink in gaming bar which was okay but lacked the atmosphere of the lovely upstairs balcony bar.
Rooms are very roomy, bed was super comfortable, the key pad took a while to press in all the numbers. Good selection of tea and coffee.
Bar fridge door does get hooked on inside cupboard hinge so was open and not cold when we got our room.
Biggest downside was the cleanliness of the bathroom flood, not swept or mopped. In terms of hygiene in bathroom a let down.

We had a team lunch at Richmond Hotel (Rundle Mall), which was booked a week in advance. Despite the prior booking, a couple of our team members were told—after everyone else was served—that the food had run out. How does that even happen at 12 PM when our table was booked for that exact time?

When we raised the issue, all we got was a casual “sorry” with no explanation or accountability. We asked to speak with the manager, only to be told she was sitting at a table working on her laptop—and she outright refused to speak to us. That’s beyond unprofessional and completely unacceptable.

What kind of manager refuses to address a valid customer concern? If they had at least called us earlier in the day to advise that a specific item wasn’t available, we could have made alternate arrangements. But we were left in the dark until it was too late.

Terrible service, zero responsibility, and a total lack of basic customer courtesy. Worst experience we've had in a long time. I would strongly not recommend booking this place for any group or event.

I'm writing this as part of the message as a response to the comment made as reply stating there was no manager on roster. To be clear, the guy at the counter who also had a bad attitude pointed us to a lady sitting on the table with her laptop and headphones. He said she was the manager. I asked him to please call her and when he tried she apparently said she can't talk now as she is busy. I can get my team to confirm as I wasn't alone who experienced or heard this.

Bar staff- one staff fun & made experience enjoyable, other staff member over charged drinks & had a bad attitude. Left because of it. Now our table's mood changed because of her disgusting attitude as some didnt want to give hotel anymore cash to order food & drinks. Big lost to you. Gather round hope other hotels make visiting more welcoming.

The suggestion that this property is 4 star is ridiculous and frankly false advertising.
It’s is shabby and grotty. My room suite had a mild smell of aged furnishings, damp and musty.
I walked in and knew I couldn’t stay there.
I booked my regular Adelaide hotel packed an overnight bag and went and stayed there.
I am from Adelaide and "partied" at the Richmond in the 80s, its a far shadow of what it once was.
There are far far far better options in Adelaide.
And options built at a similar time that have been better maintained.

We used the balcony room for an 18th. It's a fantastic space for groups of around 40-70. Room is great and the balcony is fantastic in the evening. The food was excellent - and ice-cream machine and chocolate fountain were a big hit Staff were all lovely and super helpful!

No heating, room was absolutely freezing.
Was told parking is included in the price, then had to pay 84$ on top of what we had already paid for the room. Got a discount card to use in the dining area, only for it to be shut. No fan in the bathroom.
Will stick to hotel grand chancellor 🙌🏼

Hotel location was great just at the Rundle mall, if come by Uber input address of Twin street and the hotel just right in front. Not recommend if you can only check in outside the reception operating hours. Our room cards were not able to open the room door and need to call for help, and it took us for more than half an hour to settle, in the cold and hungry night when we arrived from a long 11hours train from Melbourne!There was an opened milk in the fridge from last guest…
