What a lovely horrible experience of a high tea. Highly do not recommend. We were delighted to sit beside a table unattended full of dishes whilst served less than half cups of coffee with froth. Don't expect free parking close to the venue as outlined in their description. Do expect to wait over 1 hour after seating for food that you will later be informed, they are unsure if it meets your allergy requests. Allergies that were communicated clearly prior to booking, again on seating and again on arrival of food. Don't worry though they will offer compensation for their poor service. It just will not be provided and they will tell you they are now closed and to now email the manager for it. 2 weeks later and we have received no refund. Despite 3 of our parties being provided with allergens we have now been offered a complimentary high tea which we can get to enjoy this horrible experience again.

Our daughter recently got married at The Refectory at Werribee Park and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. From the breathtaking gardens to the elegant ballroom, every part of the venue was absolutely stunning and created the most magical setting for such a special occasion.

A heartfelt thank you to Stacey and Sara from the Bursaria team, their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made the entire planning process smooth and enjoyable. On the day, everything ran seamlessly, and it was clear how much care and effort went into making sure every detail was just right.

The food was incredible -beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We received so many compliments from guests who were genuinely impressed by the quality of the catering and the exceptional service.

Seeing our daughter so happy, surrounded by friends and family in such a beautiful space, was something we’ll cherish forever. Thank you again to Stacey, Sara, and the entire team at The Refectory for helping to create memories that will last a lifetime.

We reserved a table for lunch today and arrived to find a lovely table with umbrella ready for us. The staff were very friendly but be willing to take some time as our food arrived 45 mins after ordering. Hubby ordered the fish and loved it. We had the Cornish pastie. Best, light, melt in your mouth pastry I have tasted. The filling was tasty and the salad was fresh. We both agreed it was the best we have ever eaten and would definitely order it again. A walk around the grounds and roses afterwards finished a perfect day.

Was looking forward to having lunch here during our day at Werribee Mansion. Placed our order for a coffee and a grazing plate and asked for some water and glasses. We were advised that they would bring it all out to us.
We went outside and sat under the umbrella enjoying the garden. After 20 minutes they brought the coffee out.
We saw a table that had ordered after us receive their food and overhead a waitress telling another table behind us that firstly there was a problem with a meal they were waiting on but they were sorting it and then they come back to tell them 10 minutes later they’d actually ran out of the item they’d ordered!
After 40 minutes we still hadn’t received our water and food, so I went in to enquire where it was. I was told it was nearly ready and it takes a while to put together, I asked if I could just take the water and a woman behind the counter clicked her fingers, and pointed one of the young staff to get a bottle from out the back and told me she’d bring it out to us.
The water and grazing plate came out 5 minutes after that. The grazing plate was tasty and plentiful, it was just such a shame that the service was incredibly slow.

We recently had our wedding at The Refectory. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and we had a wonderful night and felt special celebrating there.

The food was exceptional – we received so many compliments from guests, even those with dietary requirements. The venue was flexible with menu changes and super flexible with using different spaces of the venue for our night celebrations. It was great that we could customise our night to suit a cultural wedding. We were able to utilise the outdoor lawn for our entrance of our wedding, then make our way into the ball room for the rest of the night, which made it very special. The staff on the night were also kind and polite, which we appreciated.

That said, communication in the lead-up wasn’t always consistent and at times felt a bit direct. We also came across several hidden costs, so we strongly recommend reading the contract thoroughly and asking about any additional fees. One unexpected policy was that spirits were only served after mains – something we were told was due to the table service model. However, table service on the night fell well short despite what we were communicated throughout our planning meetings. Lots of tables, including our own bridal table, were hardly offered drinks.
There were also service lapses throughout the evening – canapés at the beginning and roving desserts didn’t reach all guests, and the staff didn’t seem to be properly briefed on the flow of the night. On arrival, the toilets were dirty which was also disappointing.

In summary, while the venue is stunning, the food was excellent, and we appreciated the flexibility shown in the lead-up, the service on the night and communication beforehand fell short of expectations. We’d recommend future couples ask plenty of questions, clarify all details in writing, and don’t assume anything is included unless it’s clearly stated.

If you have allergies, for the sake of a lovely expensive experience... don't attend high tea at The Refectory. They will Ghost, lie and provide poor service to you after taking your money. At $85 per person. You get small portions, half filled coffee and an allergic reaction.

Our Unforgettable Wedding at The Refectory Werribee Mansion.

Let me just start by saying, if you're on the hunt for a wedding venue that's going to leave a lasting impression, The Refectory Werribee Mansion is it! Our wedding night there was nothing short of magical, and I can't help but dream about every little detail that made our day so special.

It feels like you've stepped into a different world. The place has an old-world charm mixed with lush greenery that had us falling in love at first sight. As the evening rolled in, the whole place lit up in this warm, fairy-tale glow that just made everything look so dreamy.

The food was delicious! A special standout meal was the premium eye fillet...absolutely melted in your mouth! There were a lot of happy and full guests by the end of the night.

The staff at The Refectory were great to deal with. They made sure everything ran like clockwork. We felt so taken care of, and it really allowed us to just soak in every moment of our big day.

Picking The Refectory Werribee Mansion for our wedding was the best decision. The gorgeous setting, food, and incredible team made our night unforgettable. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. A massive shoutout to everyone at The Refectory for giving us the most amazing night of our lives. If you're thinking about booking them for your wedding, just go for it. You won't regret it!

Been going to this place for normal high tea but this time I have to organised a baby shower high tea.
Customer Service is amazing! They made sure that all dietary requirements are met. They even set up a beautiful table for us.
The food was good and the Queen Charlotte's cake we ordered was so yummy.
Would definitely go back and highly recommend to everyone who wants to do high tea or small catch up.
