Fantastic pub BUT - read on….
The whole pub has a sensational atmosphere. Beautifully decorated with fascinating items and artwork. It’s a huge pub so plenty of table types and in all senses well appointed. TV screens to watch sport and plenty of room for big get together. This truly is one of the best pubs I’ve seen.
We ate at the bistro upstairs and this was our mistake. The food downstairs significantly better- it’s the same story pubs do pub food better.
The bistro had the usual 2 hour time spots. From the moment we sat down we were quite aggressively hassled to order, the waiter stood over us at the table about drinks. Two of us ordered two entrees each and our partners ordered mains each and sided so we weren’t skimping. The food very average. The entree salad with truffle was good but the French onion soup was far too sweet. The scollop roll very well presented but tasted ordinary. The pork chop ok and the steak very good. Chips good and butter lettuce fresh and nice .
Bathrooms awesome and parking ok.
The food downstairs is much cheaper and better.
Great pub for get together with friend and family. Bistro upstair forget a date it is like a fast food feel get them in get them out!!!

A refreshing experience at Manu’s last night. Sometimes simple is best - Manu’s new establishment offers affordable prices with consistent delicious quality. I love that I had fine dining and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Bonus points as we got to meet Manu!! Well done guys, thanks for reigniting my love for Sydney’s food scene.

We reserved a balcony seat but due to weather they were considerate to schedule us an indoor seat before we even arrived!

The waitress who served us was extremely helpful and friendly. We could feel her passion in customer service 🙂

Manu was soooooo friendly that he walked out to greet us and the other tables. He also agreed to take photo with us upon request.

Well done team! WE WILL BE BACK 🙂

Amazing atmosphere. The food was unbelievable fantastic. Will be coming again and again. It’s was such a beautiful dining experience with meeting the owner of the Red Lion Hotel and telling us the story of how it came about and of course Manu coming to the tables to say hello, it such welcoming vibe. Also a shout out to our Carly the manager who serviced us (I think her name was). She was outstanding. See you all very soon

One of the best places we have been to this year. Great bistro atmosphere (we were with another couple), excellent fresh food served with pride, and we met the welcoming, fabulous Manu!!! What a highlight, what a great guy!....Manu, you should be very proud of this place....can't wait to share the love with my friends!

You have Manu upstairs doing an exceptional job, so this review doesn't cover that.

The Red Lion 🦁, downstairs recently had some renovations, and the place is looking great. It's an Aussie Pub and has an Aussie Pub character.

Staff and friendly and attentive.

The pub food, is pub grub and notch up from standard

Their beef burger is a great lunch bite,

Chicken nachos are well prepared but you're going to need to add seasoning. Fortunately they have a great selection of condiments, from ketchup to Tabasco and mayo to vinegar

Small plates on offer are decent enough, salt and pepper octopus, amazing garlic bread.

It's not the best pub grub in the area but it is good, and when you add the friendly staff and beer selection it's worth a regular visit

Also kid friendly, but never a zoo, music played but never deafening

I rarely share negative reviews but this place has tanked
(Dining in the typical pub area - not Manu’s section)
Used to come here all the time for a pub feed and little wine but this time was terrible
The “wagyu” beef burger was $23 and as you can see pictured was woeful for costing that much, we thought we had accidentally been given a kid’s burger but no!
Definitely not wagyu just super fatty and flavourless
(The staff are lovely and it is not their fault)
Super disappointed, another local gem lost
