It's inevitable that eventually we all need to go to hospital. Having a family member who unfortunately has been in and out of hospital for the last 6 months has given me the opportunity to make some observations. The aim of the Doctors is to stabilise patients enough for discharge, in our case, they know that my family member will most likely be re admitted sooner than later, due to their complex health issues. But in that time, it frees up much needed beds, totally understandable considering the current situation. It's not just a lack of beds, there is a very noticeable shortage of staff, which puts pressure on the staff that is there and makes them come across as rude and grumpy. Some nurses deal with this pressure in an incredible way and continue to show care, compassion and understanding. Some nurses should honestly just quit and move on, they are in the wrong job.Again, as with the RAH, there is a serious lack of communication from Doctors, which can open doors for errors. The food from what I gather is pretty much same all the time, I don't think you can choose, so if you don't like something you basically don't eat. RAH food is way better with multiple choices available. If you're a fussy eater, best to have friends or family bring in food. Overall, some staff are doing an amazing job and they are compensating for the ones who aren't. The Government can introduce as many beds as they want but without enough nurses and the ones that are struggling under pressure, it's simply not enough. Sadly i can't see anything improving.

An absolutely beautiful Hospital. All the staff are great and willing to help good service. Make sure I wasn’t in pain all night. I got some sleep prescribe me some decent pain medication for a fractured hand and broken arm. The staff themselves are very polite and always willing to help Overall I believe that this is one of the best hospitals in Adelaide so far because it’s the first Hospitals I’ve been to that doesn’t treat me like a Number. FIVE THOUSAND STARS 🤩⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩

Yesterday I had a Colonoscopy Level 1 Procedures in the beautiful new Kangkanthi Building. I was so impressed with the level of care I received as a public outpatient that I had to leave a review. I was exceptionally looked after right from the moment I got there, from the receptionist through to the nurses, the anaesthetist to the doctor performing the procedure. Absolutely everyone was very personable and lovely and took very good care of me. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you all so much!

I have been a public patient at the QEH for many years and I can't speak highly enough of the care I have received.
Overall, the staff are welcoming, professional, and compassionate.
The nurses are always attentive and kind, always checking in to ensure that you are comfortable and well - informed.
The doctors take the time to explain everything clearly, which helped ease any anxiety I had.
I was especially impressed by the efficiency of the Emergency Department and the cleanliness of the facilities.
The hospital runs like a well - oiled machine, but still manages to treat patients with individual attention and empathy.
Overall, I'm incredibly grateful for the care I have received over the years.
It's reassuring to know that such a high standard of healthcare is available in Adelaide.
Thank you to everyone at the QEH for your dedication and care!
With gratitude.

Service in emergency is very good we thought at first.

REVISED.
AFTER nearly 5 hours in emergency with a very swollen face we were discharged not knowing if my wife had an allergic reaction to new antibiotics or what. Emergency dept doctor said to keep taking the two seperate antibiotics and discharged her.

This is next day now. Face is still swollen.

YOU'D HAVE TO BE NEAR DEAD TO GO HERE. Very disappointed. Avoid it if possible.

However parking is a problem, especially for elderly people like myself.
It's a VERY LONG walk from the QEH carpark to the emergency department with only 5 minutes of parking by the emergency dept. and 20 in the patient pickup and drop off zones

If you can walk from the carpark to the emergency department you probably don't need to be there.

My daughter was in Emergency department this afternoon & I was very impressed with all staff, from reception to the doctor till the change shift in the evening. She (the doctor) was rude by throwing my daughter's medical report to me & left us in the room not knowing if we can go till I have to ask her at the doctor's desk. Even my daughter saw her throwing the medical report to me & asked me why.

My experience here has been nothing short of amazing. The Anesthesia doctor asked me my choice of music and put it on in the theatre to make me feel less anxious.
The surgeons/ gynaecology doctors were so amazing and fixed all my endometriosis issues and ovary issues.
They put me in a private room even though I'm a public patient. Because of my anxiety issues.

And I can't say enough about Nurse Jodie has made me feel so comfortable and made my anxiety go away

I had 2 procedures done last Tuesday and one yesterday. I cannot not speak highly enough of the staff. The reception staff the nurses and techs the Gastroenterologist and the Anaesthetist. I could not have been treated better by all I encountered. Also a honourable mention to the ones in the background. The Scope cleaner and CSSD staff. I thank you.
