Actually a really nice little pub in Adamstown. The rooms need a shared kitchen area and better tea and coffee facilities either in the room or in a kitchen area, but other than that, were great for the price. The bed was comfy, the TV worked well, the showers and toilet facilities were very clean. The staff were lovely. I can recommend.

Choosing a special venue to host your 50th birthday is not easy with so many choices across Newcastle. As someone whom worked for 15 years in high end restaurants in Sydney and Brisbane I have very high expectations from a venue, their chefs, bar staff and functions manager and boy did Gabby and Adam and the staff at the Nags head Adamstown not only deliver but exceeded, they're true hospitality professionals!!

As someone who chooses a plant based diet Gabby, the chefs and staff all worked seamlessly and tweaked the food options to ensure there was adequate portions of vegan food for myself and my partner whilst well and truly catering to the remainder of my carnivore guests. The food was stunning and goes above what you would expect from a pub. The team of chefs really know their craft, the food was more than excellent in terms of variety of options, freshness, flavours, textures, portion size and overall value for money. Bravo, stunning job.

In addition the spritzer and cocktails on offer are imaginative, over the top delicious, well priced and on par with the best I have experienced anywhere in the world (and I am well travelled).

On top of all this the lounge area we booked was a perfect size with wonderful ambience. The staff were very attentive, kept the area clean and nothing was too much trouble.

As a hospitality professional myself for many years and having high expectations and standards I can't praise The Nags Head at Adamstown enough, they are a true shining star in the Newcastle hospitality scene.

Seriously do yourself a favour and contact Adam and Gabby at the Nags for your special function, they won't disappoint!! I rate them as 11/10.

Came down to meet a bloke named Trig. Said he had some good deals on a bit of paint, told me it wasn't hookie or nothing. But anyway to make a long story short he wasn't there, but i managed to get in on a game of poker with a pair of chaps named Derrick and Boycie. Nice time all round. Also lovely bird named Joyce ran the bar. Overall sound experience.

Beers are way too expensive. $7.90 for a schooner of 4x Gold! $9.10 for Coopers Green. The Bennett is a much better deal, happy hour $7 for ALL beers 4-6 weekdays. Great beers too.

We ordered a few starters to compliment our cocktails and drinks and what arrived was a plate of pale,room temperature calamari and one paper thin slice of haloumi. We returned it to the kitchen and were told that chef said "that is how it is served". This is nothing like the pictures on the menu or what you would expect to pay $18 for each plate for. We appreciate the friendliness the waitstaff and we were told we would be refunded for the haloumi (we never were) but will certainly reconsider before returning to dine at this venue. You be the judge.

Lunch was pretty nice, steak sadly too overcooked for the steak sandwich, had to eat it separately with a knife and fork. Lovely staff, beautiful decor.
