This has to be the best dining experience I’ve had in Manly, and I have been to almost every restaurant in the area.
Firstly the service is second to none, the owners are very welcoming and engaging without being too much and constantly hovering. The waitress was attentive and very experienced, they know what they are doing, this isn’t their second job or part time gig.
The food is amazing, fine dining without being pretentious, I can’t stress this enough, quality food cooked and presented well.
Highly recommend, it’s a family owned business and you feel like you are dining at a relatives house. The decor is warm and the place is well maintained and clean.
The boss lady is great, very cheeky and friendly.

Great spot that might not work for everyone. The vibe is homely, relaxed, and cheeky, but extremely comfortable.

The food was spectacular, varied, curated, and every dish tasted amazing. We let the waitress choose for us as we had a group of 6.

The dishes were well spaced out, the drinks we plentiful, and the taste sensation was amazing. We could probably have done with one less main course, but that’s more on volume rather than flavour.

Quirky husband and wife duo; he runs the bar and she runs front of house. We enjoyed their friendliness and cheekiness. It’s fine dining food without the pretence of fine dining.

Definitely not cheap, but amazing experience.

The food was spectacular, the staff really provided great service! And the lady boss was just so lovely to talk! She treated my family really warmly while we were having our dinner at The Herring Room! Would love to be back again 🙂

I have been living in Sydney for almost 8 years now, and passed by the Herring Room almost every day. I finally decided to give it a go, so my wife booked a table for 2.
Since the moment we entered that door, everything was outstanding. The staff were very welcoming, and as well provided a very professional service. Shout out to the Angela who is one of the owners , who came to our table and explained the menu in detail.
Everything we had (which was a lot!) was incredibly good and well presented. Starting from the snacks and starters, then the flavourful fish of the day, and ending with a delicious Coffee cheesecake.
The mix of ingredients makes everything very tasty and provided really unique flavours. Everything had a fine dining touch presentation, but at the same time felt relaxed.
Prices were good, and it also has BYO, which was something unexpected and makes it even better and customer friendly.

So far, I reckon it was one of my best dining experiences in Sydney. I will definitely go back. Grazie Angela!

It was such stunning dishes and service!

For snacks, I’d recommend bao bun and edamame, octopus, and heirloom tomatoes for small. Furthermore, Squid ink pasta and market fish were out of the world😋

The vibe given by the best and young chefs was highly praised! Service, food, and atmosphere were all amazing.

Thank you so much for giving me amazing memories of the Christmas eve 🙂

Massive shoutout for owners Angela and Rodney as well as their kitchen team Danny and Hailey!!! What an unexpected fantastic experience we had today for lunch. Starting from brilliant personal service from Angela & Rodney to food that was sensational. All dishes were beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Will be back very soon and will spread the word to our friends that they have to try The Herring Room.
