Booked for 1 adult 2 children yet the room only had two towels, there was rubbish on the floor, the dishwasher was still loaded from the last person that stayed, the shower seal had broken so sprayed water everywhere and the blanket was in the cupboard in the kitchen. Got to breakfast and was told there was only 1 voucher not two so had to resolve that. I got in after midnight and out by 9am. When I told Tim on the desk he was completely disinterested and didn’t care. For $319 for the night this was awful. I would have had better service and a better room at a caravan park.

The staff were incredible, couldn't fault. Free coffee / hot chocolate at reception. Check in was easy. Location was good, (we did have a car though). Parking was easy, area was quiet. Convenient with club next door, although the food was disapointing, the Texas bbq restaurant was unreal.||The only negative comments I have is that the complimentary gym is not entirely accurate. It promotes reformer pilates on the tv screen, however when I called the reformer pilates was not included. In addition to that, the carpet under the bed had food and looked as though it had not been vacuumed in a long time which makes me question the cleanliness of the room.|The bed was reasonably comfortable but the pillows could do with an upgrade. Also found it not convenient to have no power points beside the bed.||Overall, the stay was enjoyable. It had everything we needed.

This is my go-to hotel when staying in Newcastle. The reception staff have always been friendly. The rooms are large and clean and the off-street parking is free, unlike most hotels in Newcastle. There is a large club next to the hotel for dining and entertainment. This hotel is closer to the airport than other city hotels. Room prices are also reasonable.

Booked 4 rooms for a group with a nearby party and found the rooms to be excellent value. Clean, comfortable and excellent staff made our stay very nice. Some of the nicest 2 bedroom apartments we’ve seen.

Made a very late booking just before 12am. Fortunately the staff that was on that night was very helpful and made the whole experience easy as I was so tired. Clean room nice big bed.

The room had a nice, modern bathroom with a his and hers shower. Modern styling and comfortable bed and pillows. A few small things worth mentioning. The lock on the bathroom door was misaligned so it wouldn't close or lock. The worst was that the ceiling had a really bad build up of mould from the aircon. This might have been the cause of the strange odour soaked in the bed linens (or the hotel might be using a not so flattering fragrance). Front desk staff seemed friendly and the room was tidy. For a short overnight stay it's not worth $359 and it's not a walkable distance to the city so you will need to drive/taxi/ride share to places. However it is close to a lot of local cafe's like Equium Social just a short drive away. Still a better choice than most but would stay somewhere closer to the city for that price.

This place used to be good now its just garbage.. STAY AWAY

OK lets start with the room. Up until this stay I USED to be a regular. This place was always the 'nice place to stay'.. What's with all the cables hanging out of the bottom of the TV? which didn't work by the way (I got a not checked in message all night) I didn't bother complaining I figured it would be too much hassle... Note however I gave the staff a 5 star they were awesome and none of this was the staffs fault!! Then there is the shower.. A normal person does not fit in there and open or close the door (see photo with towel on door for reference) did you let the work experience kid design this It also seems you don't trust us with a mini bar anymore.

No onto the food. People only stay this far out of town if they either 1 have to or 2 want to. I wanted to as the food has always been awesome in the Tex restaurant.... Well it seems that doesn't open on Sundays or Mondays (clients be ware) not even on Mothers day Sunday WTF So I figured I would have a meal at the "Iron Kitchen" there was a long line of visitors there (probably because the other places were shut). I ordered the best steak i could get because I like steak... Well if you look at the attached photo you will see how much of it was just totally inedible.. I literally had to spit it out I could not chew it!! The steak was OK to start off, it was nicely cooked, nicely seasoned, nice and tender.... Then I got to the huge line of gristle running through the middle. I would have needed a wood chipper to cut through it. It was just a crappy cut of meat that a cook did their best with.. I spat all that out. No I am not whinging, I didn't ask for a refund, I just quietly walked away with a promise to never come back. So much good food in town, so may good places to stay, why would you stay out here if you don't have to.. So I wont

Great underated hotel. Lovely people lovely rooms great service.
Guests can dine next door in a wonderful place with 2 good restaurants. Good parking.
We actually looked at several motels in Newcastle and this amazing hotel is only slightly more expensive.
Frankly in comparison staying at the Gateway Inn is a no brainer. So enjoy your stay in Newcastle in this excellent hotel.
