The people were really friendly but in all my travels I have never been anywhere so blatantly dirty. There were hairballs on the bathroom floor, dead insects scattered around, and so much dirt in the corners of the room it was just unbelievable. The dishes in the cupboard were unwashed. No bin was provided, nor any washing up equipment. The kettle stunk of stale/dampness and took 4 boils before it didn’t smell. All topped off by 3 cockroaches I had to catch with one of the greasy glasses.. pretty grim. I paid 100 dollars too.. wildly overpriced. It’s such a shame because the people and animals are so nice and the location is great, and if it had been nice I would have stayed longer.
If you stay here I would advise asking to see the room before paying…

It's a budget motel, but lots of character! Quiet location with friendly service. Great to have a sink in main room, I really hate filling a kettle from tap in the bathroom. Remember to check fridge and switch it on! Single bar heater above bed surprisingly effective. Nice view from our room.

To be fair, new management have taken over and they said that renovations were in the near future. But effort is needed to make guests more comfortable in the interim. The heater in our room didn’t work and there is no aircon. There were spare blankets in the wardrobe but they were very old, dusty and had holes in them. One of our bath towels was filthy and stained with blood 😱. This motel is in a great location and I would love to see it reach it’s potential but more care is needed. Cleanliness is a basic expectation 🙊

I may be a slight germaphobe but this place really pushed me to my limits. The room was quite outdated but was told that it was later going under renovations, which was absolutely fine for a nights stay. The room itself felt unhygienic, a bit of a stink especially in the bathroom. Sheets had stains, dust and hair plus the given towel had blood stains. The kettle was also full of mould that we physically had to clean ourselves, absolutely disgusting.

In such a lovely location but cleanliness is a basic requirement.

I stayed here 4 years ago. The sheets on the bed looked like they hadn't been washed between guests; I found dirt and hair on them and what might have been mould. The room was fine if a bit small, but it was also somewhat dirty.

This property needs some serious renovations. It feels like you are living in a room that was built in 1900s. So many bugs in the room, dirty bedsheets, stinking bathrooms, age old curtains. I had to kill some spiders hanging on ceiling upon check in to ensure my daughter that it is safe.

Pets are allowed. Though Google says that it has air conditioning, it doesn't. And it gets really hot in summer. They provided one cheap $10 fan from kmart which was not enough for the room with 5 beds. At least provide decent fan.

Having said that the location they have got is very nice. Bar Beach is just down the road.

My husband and I stayed for a month last year and really enjoyed it. A bit oldfashioned as some have said but we liked that about it. It is close to everything. Shops, beaches, lovely drives and walks. The staff were very helpful. The room was big with all the necessary amenities. I can't think of anything to complain about. I might add that we have stayed in hotels all over the world and though it may not look flash like many we have been to we enjoyed it more than most. If it wasn't for the coronavirus situation we would be there now.

I really don’t like to write such bad reviews but I have been absolutely disgusted and shocked how terrible this hotel is. Our adult family members stayed in 2 rooms and both rooms were equally horrendous. I walked into our room on the first night to instantly see a very distasteful stain on our doona cover which straight away made me want to run. It only got worse from there. My husband went to put our soap in the shower to find an old used cake of soap and a used razor blade sitting in the shower, black mould on the ceiling and windows and an awful sewerage smell in the bathroom that never left. There are cockroaches and bugs crawling around everywhere including in the microwave, mosquitos galore which left us with bites over us when we woke up in the morning. It is a very old and dated place which is fine, but it has been left to rundown. The biggest concern for me was the lack of a smoke detector in our room. It was like a lot of other broken items in the rooms which had broken and never bothered to be repaired. The only positive were the friendly staff who were very helpful. It has been an experience staying here and one that has been burnt into my memory.
