The Dry Dock - Balmain, New South Wales

My partner and I visited the Dry Dock Hotel last Sunday for dinner, without a booking. Thankfully, the friendly staff were able to find us a spot at the bar.

We tried a few dishes from the menu, and the steak was a standout—cooked to perfection. While their take on peppercorn butter wasn’t quite to my taste, it was an interesting twist that added to the experience.

The pricing was reasonable and aligned with what you’d expect from a mid-fine dining venue.

I’d definitely recommend stopping by for a drink and a meal.

We had an amazing experience with my partner at lunch yesterday.

We were at The Dining Room and shared: Salt Cod Croquettes, Roast Queensland King Prawn, and Charred O Couto Peppers for entrees; followed by the mains: Mafaldine, and Steak Fries Pinnacle Rump Cap 2+, with a side of Potato Grain, and finished the feast a perfect Profiterole dessert.

Thank you for making my husband's birthday memorable and for going above and beyond.

The food, service, and atmosphere were more than we expected, and we left with full hearts and tummies.

Cannot wait to return!

We are staying locally and went straight to Google to find a good pub for dinner… off we walked to the “local” we were so surprised to find this place - it’s so much more than a local pub - from the front there was no way you could tell what a gem was hidden behind… when they said our table was reserved in the dining room - no way were we prepared for what awaited. We were met by a terrific Maitre d’ who was most welcoming..
Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable - the place was full of staff and we could tell it was a happening place. The dining room was roomy and the tables were well set out and it filled very quickly and we knew that we had made a great choice. I forgot to take before photos - the food was great - we loved the prawn cocktail and the addition of dill to the sauce really set it apart. We also had the pasta, the fish (john dory) steak and the lamb pasta - finished off with profiterole, icecream sundae and an espresso martini. Can you tell we loved it - the service was above and beyond and the food exceptional - I’m sure we will be back - lucky Balmain to have such a great place as their “local” I wish it was mine 🙂

The Dry Dock Hotel is a very unassuming hotel in Balmain. It has a great relaxing atmosphere, warm welcoming décor and fabulous vibe. The food was a little disappointing and lacking flavour. The staff were fabulous, very charming and attentive and easy to engage. Thanks to David, Gladys and Paula for a most enjoyable afternoon in your pub.

Honestly, came here for steak frites. But it hit the mark for everything we ordered.
This unassuming place is worth it. Came on a friday night, parking is a little hard but you can find one around the streets.

We recommend the salt cod croquettes, the pasta is also good as everyone else has mentioned. And for the price of the steak frites it is worth it.

The desserts, they were the highlight. Highly highly recommend the Profiterole, this you can’t miss out.
Cherry Soufflé was good but a little on the sweeter side for us.

Will definitely come back to try more.

Four of us went on a Saturday night for dinner. Excellent experience! Great cocktails at the bar before dinner. Pork chop and crab pasta were standouts

Had a absolutely amazing experience here! Wanted to come for ages and it did not disappoint!

Dined in the restaurant, food was out standing and ana absolutely fantastic wine list!! We enjoyed a Pegasus bay 🙏

this place has recently had a much needed facelift.
my mum and I came here to see what the new place was about and all I can say is that it was absolutely delicious! the food, the service, all of it. there is nothing that I would fault 🙂 we shared it all and we will definitely be back - all the food + 2 glasses of bubbles cost us $130 so it is a bit more expensive than a typical pub but it is gorgeous
