Cradle Mountain in Tasmania is a truly breathtaking destination that exceeded all expectations. The dramatic landscapes, from rugged mountain peaks to serene lakes and ancient forests, make it an ideal spot for nature lovers and hikers alike. The trails are well-marked, offering something for every level of fitness, from the relatively easy Dove Lake Circuit to the more challenging summit hikes.

One of the highlights of our trip was having Sam as our guide. His passion for the area and deep knowledge of the local flora and fauna made the experience so much more enriching. Sam’s enthusiasm was contagious, and he made sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged throughout the tour. He shared fascinating insights about the region’s history and the wildlife we encountered, which added so much value to the journey.

Overall, Cradle Mountain is a must-visit, and if you get a chance to have Sam as your guide, you’ll be in for an unforgettable adventure. Highly recommended!

The Hobart to Cradle Mountain tour was absolutely fantastic! Sam had everything perfectly planned and thought out. Breaks were timed just right, I was able to sleep and rest in the morning, great music after breakfast. The restaurants were great. The van was also super comfortable, with reclining seats and charging ports for added convenience.

We were able to spot around 20 wombats with up close encounters, along with wallabies, a pademelon, and even a platypus! Sam also provided great historical insights and useful information about the areas we visited, including which hikes were best and we could do at Cradle Mountain with the time we had.

If you’re on the fence about booking this trip, trust me—it’s totally worth it. 10 out of 10, highly recommend!

I did the Hobart to Cradle mountain tour. This is a brilliant, relaxing yet exciting, tour for anyone wanting to experience Tasmania and it’s unique wilderness.

The journey starts at 6am and finishes at 9pm, making it a perfect way to spend a day when in Hobart. The road trip to and from Cradle Mountain is smooth and has plenty of refreshment stops along the way. (Great food too).

I saw plenty of wildlife at Cradle Mountain including echidnas, wombats, lizards and birds.

Overall, I had a great time and would highly recommend booking with The Derwent Experience.

Wonderful wonderful day trip to Cradle Mountains. Very detailed pick-up instructions and nice meals choices. We had a perfect weather and nice small group members that help each other reach the lookout. Same the guide and our driver was very helpful and passionate. It was very good to travel with him. Just note that only a big breakfast and early dinner are provied. So it's better to carry some biscuit or fruits with you.

I highly recommend The Derwent Experience and Sam! My experience started as an accidental guest, and then I became a big fan of Sam’s The Derwent Experience!! My wife and I were on a different 4-day Tasmania tour, and unfortunately my wife suffered a broken ankle while hiking on Day 2. She was airlifted to Hobart, and I had to find a way back myself. Thank goodness for the local tour guide network!! My first tour guide stayed with me and my wife until medical support arrived, and also contacted Sam at The Derwent Experience. Sam graciously allowed me to join his tour group midway through his day tour and I rode with him back to Hobart. Sam’s van is very spacious with plenty of room for 8-9 people. Sam is super friendly and introduced me to everyone in his group. We stopped for a very good dinner on the way back to Hobart (the seared tuna small plate was very tasty), and by the time I got back to Hobart, I had a new set of friends! After checking on my wife, and with nothing to do while she was under excellent medical care, I joined Sam and his next group for a tasting tour in the Derwent Valley. The tour was excellent and included a few repeat customers from Sam’s previous tour (Sam must be doing something right!). Thank you to Sam and everyone on the tasting tour (Greg,Sue,Frazier,Lockey,Shannon,Sarita, and Lyn) for a wonderful day!

The Derwent experience was truly an amazing introduction to Tasmania, the day was so convenient with meal stops, Tassie history and driving so smooth most of of us were asleep on the way there and back ?

The views were absolutely spectacular and well worth every penny, I even think ticket pricing is a bargain for what you get out of the trip. Sam puts his all into making it a great day, he’s personable and thoughtful and I would certainly recommend The Derwent experience for anyone visiting Tassie

Had the opportunity to do the Cradle Mountain day trip and it was the highlight of my Australia visit.

Sam is a very good driver who makes the trip run smooth and has frequent stops to ensure the comfort of his passengers. The trip up the lookout was well worth the trip and I highly recommend everyone coming to Tassie to book The Derwent Experience.

The best day! We wouldn’t have been able to do this trip alone and we were so glad to have Sam as our driver and guide! A magical experience that is a must if you are wanting to hike and see some of the beauty of Tasmania!
