⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Steak in Rockhampton

Hands down the best steak I’ve had in Rockhampton. Honestly, maybe the best steak I’ve had anywhere. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender and packed with flavour. I couldn’t stop eating it and low-key considered ordering a second one.

The sides were just as good. Everything came out hot, fast and tasting amazing. The staff were super friendly and the whole place had a great atmosphere.

For the quality of the food, the price is honestly a steal. If you’re in Rocky and not eating at The Criterion Hotel, you’re missing out. Absolute bang for your buck. I’d happily come back just for that steak.

Came here based on reviews saying best steak in the town. Got the mixed grill which included a steak, and far from the best steak I've ever had. It was the definition of mid-tier, and the rest of the dish ranged from ok to pretty bad. The veges were definitely frozen and the potato bake left a lot to be desired. The meatball was particularly bad. Honestly the best part was probably the tomato and mushroom. If you're looking for a very good steak in Rockhampton, I don't think this is your place. Good volume though so if you're just hungry and want a feed it is a decent option. Waiter was very friendly to be fair to him so no complaints there.

We were visiting Rockhampton and decided to meet a friend here last Friday night... we were not disappointed... very busy but that didn't bother them at all. The staff were awesome and efficient. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was pleasant. 10/10 thankyou for a great night.

My partner and I both ordered the mixed grill on a busy Saturday night. Despite a 45-minute wait due to high demand, the experience was well worth it. The meal was generously portioned and incredibly satisfying. To complement our dinner, we shared a bottle of Pinot Noir, which paired beautifully with the flavours of the dish.

Overall, an excellent dining experience with great food and atmosphere.

NOT A GREAT REVIEW. Tables sticky. Easy to read menus and good prices. Good variety but don’t expect to get what you order. You have to ask for gravy. If you ask for salad with you fish meal, don’t expect it. Then when you ask the waiter where your salad is, he goes away and rudely comes back with a docket and says rudely, you didn’t order it. Wow. A simple, i will get you a bowl. Didn’t care much for him. They bring out meals oddly. Wife gets meal and husband gets his 15 minutes later. Then on came the crappy loud music. The iPhone wouldn’t sync properly all night and music dropping in and out. They were playing stupid bingo with music. Couldn’t have a decent conversation without having to yell. Not a great atmosphere. Meals were tasty and bar staff friendly. Wouldn’t go back. Cheers big ears

Came for a Steak Dinner with my wife, being Rockhampton the beef capital of Australia you expect the best. We dined two days before at the Great Western Hotel so we had a comparison. The meal here was more expensive and paled in comparison, the steak was chewy, they used frozen veg not fresh and the meal was Luke warm. Sadly the star of the dish was the chips. Disappointing to say the least having traveled from the other side of Australia to a below average meal. My advice would be to go to the GWH if you want a good meal.

Went to Criterion for breakfast and it was delicious. Service was great and would recommend the variety of meals offered. Great heritage building on the river. There was plenty of space available as the restaurant was spacious as you would expect from a heritage building.

The aircon was good. The ceiling fan quiet. The King Room is large. |Tea / coffee only.|Bed was on the firm side, but I was so tired it didn’t matter. |Big bathroom and nicely done. Hot water was only warm - just. |It was reasonably quiet for a pub on a Friday night. |Had a meal. Huge in size. Normal pub meal. |The tariff matched the room. Not overpriced for what you got.
