Considering Tamworth is the home of country music, hubby and I both enjoyed this the best out of all the attractions. We were given a lovely tour by a very informative gentleman. Not sure why this isn't higher up Tamworths totem pole as they have the claim to fame of being the first town in Australia to have electric street lighting, and the museum is a credit to the volunteers that run it.

Great place for the $5 fee. Staff were very friendly and gave us a great insight into the workings of electricity and its history in Tamworth. Some great old anqtiue gadgets that amused the kids for an hour or so.

Very interesting, with enthusiastic volunteers. Our guide walked with us through the displays explaining everything to us. Which we would have appreciated any other time but we were in a hurry and he didn't seem to understand that! Had tried to visit the day before but they were closed. Allow extra time.

This is a must if you are visiting Tamworth. Kevin, one of the volunteers there, was great. He and his colleagues showed us around and explained about how Tamworth was the first city in Australia to have street lights. Highly recommended. And thanks Kevin and the guys for a great tour.

This is a great place, the volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. It's very cold inside so rug up before you go in and allow 1.5-2 hours for the tour.

A fantastic museum dedicated to Tamworth and the history of the electrification of the City. Run by very helpful and friendly volunteers who will actually spend time to explain the various items on display. Very friendly people. There is an abundance of items on display from bulbs, radios, fridge, washing machines, electricity related items and SO much more! Highly recommend visiting and allocating about an hour or two.

Spotted the Tamworth Powerstation Museum as I was walking through the middle of town. As I had some extra time decided to stop in and have a look. The volunteer Ian was really helpful and gave us the layout of the museum. Interesting collection! Photos attached from my experience at the museum:
