One of the best hikes at Stirling range national park. Quite a scramble to the top but well worth it for the epic views up the top. There is a cave to explore although it’s not recommended to go inside. You can go around the cave and up the summit.

Well well well Mt Talyuberlup! You had been quite elusive indeed. Had tried 3 times beforehand to tackle you (the 2nd time I even extended my stay), but alas...time/weather just wasn't on my side. FINALLY the 4th try, and I DID IT!

My whole experience leading up to climbing Mt Talyuberlup also went to show one very good lesson learned: You can read/research about a place as much as you like and get nervous/scared about it, but it's only BY GETTING YOUR ARSE THERE AND BY ACTUALLY DOING IT, then and only then you could judge for yourself. You had no idea how stupid I felt of letting myself being scared even before I started climbing. Again and again, ppl talked about climbing up a very steep section to reach the summit bla bla bla. Well let me put it to the rest: Yes it's steep, but it's totally and absolutely doable! There are things to help you climb up, like the permanent rocks/vegetations. So don't let the fear stop you. Go there! Judge for yourself 😎 if worst comes to worst, there's no shame in turning back at all.

Now having said all this, as with all outdoor adventures, please assess your own ability and experience. Esp if you're a solo hiker (like me πŸ˜‰). For me personally, Talyuberlup was a tad harder than Trio and Hassell. It's longer, steeper and more on the wilder side...which was both exciting and very much challenged me in every sense. The end result was totally worth it!!! OMG THE DRAGON'S DEN!!! I spent a well-deserved 1.5 hours at the summit, incl observing the rock cave (YES THERE'S A ROCK CAVE up there!!). The 360Β° views at the summit were just SPECTACULAR and I'm in complete awe. To make it even better, I had the whole summit to myself!!! (Mainly becos I was so slow and everyone had already made their way down LOL). I also want to say, the rock formations here are absolutely mind-blowing! I have climbed most of the peaks in Stirling Range NP and Talyuberlup is the most impressive of all! Even the wildflowers were absolutely beautiful! (Still wondering what those black lump thorny thing sticking on the trees...mmm?)

Btw remember: The rock cave is NOT the summit. I repeat: NOT. I felt so so awful for the other solo male hiker I met because he thought that was the summit. Gosh after all that climb! And to think that the summit was only a short climb away. I thought he'd come up shortly after I said 'See you later' (he clearly saw me going towards the summit way), but lo and behold, he never came up! LOL πŸ˜€ Had I known he didn't know, I'd have made myself clearer and said 'See you UP THERE!' 🀣🀣 I texted him about this later and he was shocked! Rookie error he said. Totally felt his pain cos it happened to me before as well: false summit.

Very3x happy to tick off another peak in my most beloved place Stirling Range NP. I really took my time at this mountain so I was the last person left. Got to experience the beautiful and epic sunset. Btw I met another family during one of the earlier 3 failed attempts and they said the ranger told them that they may close this peak at some stage for safety reason becos the rock cave is sloping more and more. Who knows when...so my advice is, do this peak before it's too late.

This is a short (1.3km's) but demanding track, definitely not for small children and you need a reasonable level of fitness. Plenty of signs of recent rock falls onto trees below along the path near the summit as well. Nice sunrise views along the other peaks as well. There are a few places to shelter from the wind or rain just below the summit but again there are the occasional rocks dislodging and randomly falling.

Talyuberlup is a short (2.5 hour) demanding hike, with panoramic views from the summit. It offers a steep ascent with a short scramble to the peak- so pack your poles and confront this rewarding challenge.

Amazing trip. Pick your days very carefully and make sure you are a competent trail walker as there are loose rocks and some significant inclines. Don't bring small children.

Awesome views, don't take young kids as can be slippery under foot. Walking sticks recommend. A big thank you to the solo traveler who saw us head up and waited for us to return. Thank you. The kindness of strangers.
