My mother's 100th birthday was getting closer and I realized I needed help. Kayla and Linda from Skal Celebrations became my partners in putting on this special event. Kayla respected my ideas since I knew my mother and family best and contributed ideas and tips to make them happen seamlessly. I was interested in a Covid safe outdoor gathering and a zero waste event and so it was. From ordering supplies to making snacks to set-up, serving, photos and cleanup Skal made the party so much more successful and enjoyable. A once in a lifetime family memory!

Kayla and I met shortly after her family moved to Colorado in August of 2017. Kayla attended an event in September hosted by MOD Moms, an organization I founded in 2008. She quickly appreciated the concept for the organization, primarily by reason that MOD Moms was based off my life as an expatriate living in Düsseldorf, Germany. Our parallel experiences as expats quickly bonded the two of us.

In the year 2018, MOD Moms hosted 241 separate events, 12 months a year, 7 days a week, from morning to evening. These events include large scale family parties with over 200 in attendance while others are intimate gatherings based on members’ diversified interests.

Shortly after Kayla joined, she asked if moms would be interested in new ongoing events, specifically Lunch Club and Couples Night Out. Kayla went on to share some events she had coordinated with fellow expats in Sweden and asked if our members would be interested in these events in Colorado. One of the long running visions of MOD Moms was to create an organization that you never outgrow, continuously meeting new friends throughout every stage of life. Lunch Club allows our members to connect, as we support local front range restaurants. Couples Night Out quickly became a popular way for other MOD DODs to connect and meet. MOD DODs, our long running dads group, is a social club for our dads based on their interest, as well as a networking group. For Lunch Club and Couples Night Out, she has been able to leverage business sponsorships to allow MOD Moms to attend, as well as to promote those sponsors through our extensive Business Partner and Sponsor Program.

New to Colorado, Kayla quickly showed her initiative and drive to create the growing vision of MOD Moms! Her enthusiasm continuously brings members to events in a growing online world! Additionally she gave her time and talent to bring an incredible professionalism to our events, as her passion for event planning shined. The power of the lively connections our members make allow our organization to grow and thrive!
