This is not the tradition Cantonese food we have. They serves a variety of cold dishes unlikely the Cantonese food. Noticeably, the menu has quite a few dishes use carp fish as the main ingredient. Shun De district is famous for their water milk too so we can find some dishes here made by milk, be it main dishes or desserts. Fish dishes are popular here too. We ordered a Morang fish cooked in 3 different styles. It costed us $300 for this dish alone. So be careful what you ordered and make sure you check the seasonal price first. We ordered 2 entrees, the carp fish skin salad and the spicy hand reared chicken. The fish skin was a bit hard to chew compared to what we had last round. The shredded free range chicken is ok but not spectacular. For main course, we had stirred fried milk with seafood, kangkong in fermented bean curd, diced beef fillet with sweet potatoes, and the morang fish. The standard of the food was consistent and tasty. At last, we also had the fried milk and the ginger tofu as desserts. They both are tasted delicious and not too sweet. I think the food here are reasonable if you don’t order the fresh fishes. The lady boss is always smiley and patient. The restaurant can be noisy during booked out period. Parking are along the Burke Road. During lunches, they also serve dim sum. May be I try the next round when I am back.

Unbelievable that I can find a Shun de (a city in China) cuisine restaurant here in Melbourne. It’s probably not a restaurant people usually will try as the name, Shun de, makes no sense. But I have to say for those who is interested in authentic south China cuisine, you should give it a try. The chicken salad and fish skin salad are interesting dishes. The chicken salad comes with cooled shredded chicken. The staff will serve the chicken with different spices and herbs and mix them up before you have it. Fish balls and fish congee should be their specialty as well, as people from Shun de are good at making fish balls.

We went to Shun De House Camberwell this evening. Their Fried Fish Cake and the Fish Skin Salad are very traditional. We ordered more than we could feed in. A great place to dine if you are looking for a traditional Shun De Cuisine.

Fish skin salad is fresh and refined.

Signature chicken is probably authentic but I would prefer it to be more silky and juicy.

Overall a luxe dining experience with a high price tag and fancy ambiance to match.

Highly recommend the HK Style fried milk rolls which is rare to come by in Melbourne. The fried salted egg yolk chicken ribs is a must as it was so juicy and light. The fried pork intestines was alright but had a funny smell to it and more preferred by the elders that night instead of the young ones. We paid by Liven but was also charged a CC surcharge.

We pre-ordered the lunar new year special hotpot. It was advertised as suitable for 6-8 pp, but the portion was pretty small and far from substantial. The hotpot was priced for $288, and there was no meat at all. There were only few types of seafood on the top and it was covered with heaps on radish at the bottom. We were very looking forward to his traditional dish to celebrate lunar new year together. However, all we got was disappointment. We will never come back again.

Delighted to find a place with Shun Di cuisine. Small selection of shun di dishes but all pretty tasty. Fish skin salad is good but pricy for an entry side($18.8). Fried fish ball is fresh and taste good, could garnish and plate up a bit with this price though ($28.8). Shun di fried rice ($16) with the aroma of charred stir fry flavor blend quite well with the ingredients. The green beans with pork mince ($21) is crisp fresh with generous portion. Price is on the high end but the quality compensate. The place is spacious and clean. Could consider using real table cloth with this price range and nearby clientele. Overall a pleasant meal.
