This is a modern Visitor Centre along Knights Terrace in Denham. This makes for a good first stop when arriving in town if you want to learn about dessert and marine tour options or pick up general information about Denham and the Shark Bay area.

There is a Discovery Centre (AUD$13 per adult) if interested in a museum experience relating to the history and heritage of the Shark Bay area. There is a free art gallery section.

Perhaps most interesting, you will also find a 3D film - Fire on the Water (every 15 minutes) relating to discovery of the HMAS Sydney which was engaged in very close quarters by German HSK Kormoran 200 miles off the coast of Shark Bay back in 1941. The film is free to watch, very interesting and worth your time if planning to visit the Visitor & Discovery Centre.

My visit to the Shark Bay Discovery Centre was transformed into an unforgettable experience, thanks to the stunning exhibition of aerial photography by ND5. This collection offers a unique perspective of Shark Bay that is both breathtaking and inspiring, making it a must-see for both photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

The ND5 exhibition showcases a series of aerial photographs that capture the essence and beauty of Shark Bay from above. Each photograph tells a story, inviting viewers on a visual journey through the diverse landscapes and vibrant colors that define this remarkable region. The quality of the photography is exceptional, with attention to detail and composition that truly highlights the skill and artistry of the photographers.

What made the experience even more enriching was the informative context provided alongside the photographs. Learning about the locations, wildlife, and ecological significance of the areas captured in the images added a layer of appreciation and understanding to what I was viewing. It's clear that the exhibition was curated with both passion and expertise.

The Shark Bay Discovery Centre has done an incredible job of presenting this exhibition, creating a space that is both welcoming and engaging.

I left the Discovery Centre feeling inspired and awestruck by the natural beauty of the world we live in, as seen through the lens of the ND5 photographers. This exhibition is a testament to the power of photography to capture and convey the majesty of nature, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. A well-deserved 5-star experience that should not be missed by anyone visiting Shark Bay.

We want to thanks Ayana for her fantastic support. We were in Shark Bay and planned to visit the Peron National Park . She was great and really skilled, able to guide us through the right way and made us able to visit the park. She was aware of risks and she showed an incredible knowledge of our car and the way to optimize the efficiency of drive in sandy road. Without her help we would not had be able to complete our visit. Thanks from the Italian guys. We visited the Park on 27 August .

We came by here since it was raining. We did stop by before to get some information regarding what sights to see but came back to do the Discovery Center. There are a few souvenirs in the shop too. They also have information regarding the status of the Francois Peron National Park.
There is a small gallery on the left of the entrance which is free to enter and does have quite a few spectacular photographs of the area. There was also a 3D movie "Fire on the Water" about the HMAS Sydney which was sad and informative. It ran every 30 minutes so you can easily wait for the next screening.
The Discovery Center costs $11 for adults and $6 for children but it is a multiday pass so you are able to come back in at a later day, just show your receipt. I quite enjoyed it since it was almost like a museum about the history of the area. It was split up into different segments based on the area. It was nice strolling around and looking at the different things inside, particularly the animal stuff. They also did have movies going so if you had time you can sit and watch them all.
It is a useful place to stop, whether you're looking for information or wanting to spend some time looking around the displays.
