I love my van build by Savage Adventure Vans! I called 10 different van builders and found Reece to be the easiest to talk to - he was friendly, receptive to my ideas and knowledgeable on builds. My van is only a HiAce Commuter but he managed to fit a retractable bed, bench, fridge, toilet, sink, three pull out tables, lots of cabinetry and a roof top deck! He worked with me on my original design and tweaked it to make improvements. I originally wanted a fixed bed to minimise fuss, but I’m glad Reece talked me into a sliding bed. It’s easy to use and when it’s closed I have a proper space to sit and do work at my slide out table (which also opens up into a vanity). It also frees up a lot of bench space so I can use it for my projects. I’m 175cm tall and the bed’s dimensions are similar to my double size bed at home so I fit easily and have actually managed to sleep two in there as well. Reece made beautiful upper cabinets with rattan, giving it a vintage feel (it also brings weight down and allows airflow). He took care of fans and airflow so I won’t overheat or get moisture in the tropics. I even have a little skylight I can climb out of onto my roof top deck! He added a light bar free of charge which is handy when driving at night on empty bush roads with no street lights. I also had a slight rust issue and it was recommended by panel beaters that I repaint the whole van - I was looking at a huge price tag just to paint it white again. Reece offered to have it painted for half the price, in my favourite colour (green) using raptor paint which is much more durable than regular car paint. It looks awesome and I get compliments on the paint job all the time.

After my first trip I noticed I needed to make some adjustments to the design to bring the weight down and also required a couple more useful features. I also broke a couple of cabinet latches from slamming the doors too hard. I brought my van back in and Reece was more than happy to make adjustments for me and work around my schedule.

As a visual artist, this van design has been a collaboration between myself and Reece who I’ve found easy to work with and helpful the whole way. This would have been a very hard build, as it’s not a van that a tall person can stand up in and Reece would have been crouching the whole time. I’m impressed with how it turned out and so are all the people who visit my little home on wheels. I’ve added pictures - Reece did the whole build, hardware, wood stains and all the features on the outside of the van. I did the painting inside, curtains & artwork. Enjoy!!

Reece turned my dream van into a reality! The whole process was such a joy, and so easy too! From the initial meeting talking through my own design ideas, Reece had many ideas of his own based on my specific needs, and the end product was more than I ever could have hoped for! Regular contact with progress photos was so exciting to watch it all come together. He did everything he could to jam pack as much into the van on my budget, with exceptional detail in the craftsmanship as well! He really went above and beyond, even picked me up from the nearby train station!
If you’re thinking about buying a camper van, Savage Adventure Vans is the one you want!

Do not use this guy. $40k for this:

My van is overweight and voids insurance. Reece didn’t think this was a problem then later admitted he thought my GVM was 4T (it’s 3.55).
Reece - try as you might to convince me my GVM is heavier than it is - my compliance plate on the van says 3.55 (you know this 😄)

He damaged my wiring loom for the rear external lights in my van. In taking the van apart I found the exact piece of wood and nail holes. I’ve told him 3 times and after initially denying it has offered to pay for it when it’s replaced 👍

After initially blocking Reece because he was not receptive to my complaints, I have contacted him again for a resolution - will update with an outcome.

- All materials too heavy for GVM.
- Sink not secure or waterproofed - water leaking into cupboard
- Water tank inlet hose not sealed properly - water leaking through cupboard and floor when filling/driving
- Water tank hose not clamped to inlet or held up by anything
- Water tank level monitor poorly sealed and leaking water
- Water leaking out of sink drain pipe into cupboard and floor below onto diesel heater
- Poor workmanship - nails and screws coming loose, random bits of wood everywhere, coating coming off ladder and maxfan
- sliding bed stuck (sanded it down and rescrewed it to be usable)
- Cooktop not secured and drawers collide with the electrical cords
- Shower not sealed
- Gaps in shower tiling, gaps in shower
- Sink cupboard doesn’t close properly
- Untreated wood benches cracking
- Rear wheel carrier is too low - when I mentioned this I was told “that’s a good thing though” that speed cameras and tolls can’t see it.
- Nothing is accessible, I have to pull everything apart to access cables, tanks etc.

5 other people have contacted me on Instagram to share their own poor experiences with this guy.

We had a great experience with Reece from Savage Adventure vans! We made the decision to quit our jobs to travel full time and wanted a speedy fit out for our Renault Master and Reece delivered. We lived in our camper for nearly 2 years full time as we travelled around Australia. Reece customised the layout for us and communicated with us throughout the entire process. Our van is so unique and truly feels like our little home on wheels.

Very Happy with the work Reece did for me and price. Unique and cool designs. He was very patient with my indecisiveness and when I changed a few things from the original design. He also made suggestions that turned out to be much better than we initially planned. Would use again in future for a fit out.
