Apparently this pub is closed & up for sale. Sad because this is such a nice friendly place & pubs are a social necessity in small towns like this. After 6 days of dusty roads I was looking forward to having a meal & a beer 🍻 it is boarded up but accommodation is apparently still on offer.

Great country pub. No beer on tap, but loads of atmosphere, and great food. The stew was the best I’ve ever had, very tasty. Meat was tender and it had a bit of spicy flavor. I should have asked for the recipe.

The Sandstone pub is the heart of this town. We stopped off here for 2 nights. We enjoyed the history steeped into the walls and the interesting quirks that could be found hidden in the corners, wandering about this lovely building. The bar one of the few places you can buy anything in town, had good friendly service and a decent cent selection of drinks. The food served was hearty pub food and well all (family) enjoyed the feed. T

Enjoyed this pub. Locals were hilarious! Happy hour 2-4pm. It's got a quaint feel to it and lots of history to read and look at around the various rooms. A nice ambience by the fire in the internal courtyard. Nicely done beer garden with cockatoos to look at.
Meals were great said a guy I spoke to who had just had one!

For a small town country pub we recently stayed the night on the way to Kalgoorlie.
Great service, friendly staff had a lovely meal. Donga room older style but had everything we needed and clean and good air-conditioned. Would recommend if looking for a place to stay to break your trip.

This is an awesome pub. The meals are great, the prices are reasonable. Most of all the staff are friendly and make you feel at home. A great country welcome. I would highly recommend this place. Tell them Tom and Nat say hi.

Had a couple of nights in Sandstone whilst working in the Goldfields last week. Donna and Shaunie looked after us during our stay. Meals were very good and our packed work lunches most welcome. The room had AC and a TV which was all I needed and a hot shower. The bird cage is worth a look too. Great old pub.

I wasn't impressed. Way too expensive, I wanted a steak but without the salad and chips, just 2 eggs 🥚 and abit of fried onion. Got charged the same price as the meal and charged for the 2 eggs 🥚 and the little bit of onion 🌰 which wasn't cooked properly and didn't get my receipt when ask for it, and 2 beers. All up $63. Not impressed and won't go back. Almost like they didn't like you to change the menu. I always thought you could order what you liked and not someone else's idea. Then without asking they covered my not cooked eggs with pepper. I hate pepper on my food. Again someone else's taste and you are supposed to like it. I drive a truck and you can't take roadtrains down main street so you park in truck bay about half a k away and walk across in dark cause the pathway lights not all working then have your meal that you didn't order and walk back to your truck. 1k walk which is good but not so good if you don't get what you wanted and just cost an arm and leg for. I would have thought because I didn't want the salad and chips and sauce on my plate that I would have been charged the $42 for the meal 🤔 and not the extra cost for the 2 eggs and tiny bit of not quite cooked fried onion that I got. Sandstone you need to pick up your game if you want more people stopping in. Or maybe you don't!!!!
Never again I will just keep going and not waste my time and money there again
