It's been a few years since the last time we came into Castlemaine. When I checked the last time, we actually came to Saffs as well. We enjoyed it then and this visit didn't disappoint. My Savoury Scrambled eggs and my Mrs meal were great. We decided to also try out the Bircher muesli as well, it was nice, but we were wanting a little more from it. It was missing something special to elevate it to greatness. Overall a good visit, service was great.

I had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.
The burger was delicious—juicy, flavorful meat patties with a homemade touch. It's definitely a place I'd visit again!

a baddie chef called gemma made me my food last saturday and even brought it to the table! The food was almost as good as the view of her leaving...
She cooked almost as hard as she served. I had the juiciest, crispiest most voluptuous BLT with a side of fries and a latte. The food was absolutely scrumptious 10/10.

I'm staying in Castlemaine house sitting for a family member and have been keen to try out local food options,

Food available at Saffs cafe is fantastic, and reasonably priced, it's one of the better cafes I've experienced food and value for money wise and I've been all over Australia.

However customer service is average, you won't get asked if you want anything else during your stay, I've been here for two hours, had my meal but I've never been asked if I want something else while I've been chilling here.

I've even asked for another menu and I'm holding it in a very obvious fashion for the last 30 minutes, but no one has come up to ask me if I want something else?

The front of house staff need a lot of work, they're very nice people but not very experienced in customer service operations in the hospitality industry. You're losing extra upsell opportunities because you're not asking basic questions or checking in on your customers post initial order - it's not a good customer experience.

Improve customer service and it's five stars, it's worth a visit if you're after brunch and you find yourself in Castlemaine on the food alone, but it's difficult to stay here past your initial order because they just don't encourage you to have anything else.

I'd love to experience Lyn's lemon tart, but you never let me order it after I asked for a menu.

Café Saffs is one of those places that instantly makes you feel at home. The food is fresh, nourishing, and made with care—lots of eggs, avo, and wholesome goodness that leave you feeling satisfied but light. The staff are genuinely lovely, always welcoming with a smile and a chat. But what really makes this place special is the setting. Sitting here, you can fully soak in the charm of Castlemaine—its old mining town character, the relaxed pace, the sense of history in the air. It’s the kind of café where you linger a little longer, just because it feels so good to be there.

Food was really good. If you are really hungry or starving, make sure to order as soon as you figure out wjat to eat since the waiting for the food is a bit long but because they really cook it deliciously. 😅
