Friendly service but unlike other reviews the dining experience was the worse we ever had.
We both ordered and paid for rump steak with the friendly bar staff. 10 minutes later we were told we can't have steak but can pick something from their specials board or receive a refund. We ordered their roast pork with salad and flathead with veges.
The food finally arrived over half hour later, we were the first to actually order. The meals arrived where the sides were wrong but worse of all the roast consisted of one small thin slice of pork which was cold and the flathead was the smallest piece of fish I have ever seen. We would have been better off going to a fish and chip shop as a pork roll would have been much bigger and the fish would be also much bigger at less than half the price.
Tried the nearby Oriental hotel which has much larger, better meals. We will never be back to the Royal for a meal.

I know where to start, well as I arrived in the warm welcome of the staff was very warm. I didn’t know where to park near my room but, the nicest staff walked with me to show where I could park. The room was alright, I slept really good, there are some loud people outside but, didn’t bother me luckily I was very tired of driving from Newcastle. The food was unbelievable, the presentation was brilliant I struggled to eat, the chicken was not dry and the salad was very fresh and I love the chips was perfectly cooked. I would say 10/10 I can’t fault this place, sad to say it might be my last visit as I am moving to Perth. I will definitely 💯 to recommend Royal Hotel to my friends. Thank you so much for your service and keep up the great work ❤️

I've stayed in the Motel at the back of the Hotel twice before and found it ok...just. Booked a room there last Friday 3/1/25 and must say it was disgraceful !!!. One word to the owners...MAINTENANCE. After a 600klm motorbike ride and 34 degrees, air-conditioning that worked would have been nice!!! Should have realised that when I seen the $10.00 KMart fan in the corner and the air-conditioning unit was the first one ever made !!. Turned the air-conditioning on when we went out for an average meal at the Hotel to only come back to a hot, stuffy room. Not real good when you can't sleep and have another 500 klm ride the next day. Then there was the toilet which constantly ran all night...they obviously don't care about water bills. Cracking and pealing paint on the roof. Spend some money on the place to bring it up to a reasonable standard please !!! On the plus side the staff at the Hotel were very nice.
I WOULD NOT stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
