I hadn't considered visiting Rottnest Island until my granddaughter asked to go for the day. The staff were outstanding, explaining that if I joined the children's club, my granddaughter could travel for free. We booked our tickets and hired bicycles, and were pleased to find that our booking could be transferred with just an hour's notice. The staff were incredibly polite and knowledgeable, making the whole transaction extremely simple. We even took advantage of the flexibility to change our times and catch the last ferry back after having such a great time. Thank you to the staff for their excellent service.

I travelled with their Ferry from Perth (Hillarys Port) to Rottnest Island

Positives:
Easy Online Booking and Check-In: The online booking system is user-friendly, and the check-in process is easy. You can simply show the ticket barcode emailed to you, which they scan at the ship's entrance, allowing you to quickly board and find a seat.

Flexible Schedule: Multiple departure and return time options offer great flexibility for planning your trip.

Friendly Staff: The staff members are welcoming and helpful.

Punctual Service: Everything ran on time without any delays.

Convenient Options: Additional services, such as bike rentals, carrying your own bike, and luggage check-in, add convenience to the journey.

Comfortable and Clean Ship: The ship is well-maintained, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. The indoor space features efficient air conditioning, making it cool and comfortable. There is a bar in the ship which you can purchase some items such as snack, chips, some drinkings. The open-air seating allows you to enjoy the refreshing breeze and scenic views.

Windows: The ship has large windows running along the perimeter of the indoor seating areas on both levels, offering the potential for excellent views.

Negatives:

Dirty Windows: The only downside I noticed was the salt deposits on the external side of the indoor windows, likely from ocean water. This significantly obstructs the view for those seated inside. I strongly recommend they clean the windows regularly to make the most of the ship’s design and enhance the passenger experience. With clear windows, passengers could fully enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Overall Experience:
Despite the issue with the windows, I would still give the ferry service a 5-star rating. The positives far outweigh this minor drawback, making the trip enjoyable.

I think this is one of the best way to explore Rottnest Island if you have less than 6 hours on the island (Grand Island Tour). Once reached, you will be exploring the island with train to Oliver Hill. Then after that have a picnic lunch and then a sightseeing bus. Everything was perfect. The tour agency fulfilled my request to have special dietary requirements. Ferry was big. Seating at the most top of the deck gives you 360 degree of view. Sunset on the ferry was incredible! Rottnest Island is very stunning!

Efficient service to and back from Rottnest. An extra departure service back to Hillary's was put on the day before we travelled, the boat was new and comfortable and the trip back was so smooth. Bike hire collection was easy and they were loaded on and off so fast.

Amazing island. The fun begins from boarding the ferry.
An island where the only kind of vehicle you find is buses or other construction vehicles. No private vehicles is on the island.
Most form of transportation is by bicycle or buses.
I really loved Rottnest Island. Will revisit.

My 3 kids and I absolutely love travelling with Rottnest Fast Ferries. From check in at the box office, boarding, the ride over and arrival to the island is always a breeze. The Crew are so helpful and amazing that You will always feel safe and know that you will be looked after over the journey.

The crew are very welcoming and I just enjoy the family feel you get when travelling with a great bunch of people doing a job they love and enjoy.
