Riverbank Park Motel - Bright, Victoria

We stayed at the Riverbank Park Motel in May 2024. This stay was part of our Great Alpine Road trip. Despite being in a superb location on the river and close to town, it was the worst accommodation we have stayed in. I had tried to be selective in our choice and I found the website photos are misleading. Yes, there has been attempt to freshen the rooms up, but they are reminiscent of motel standards in the 1980s. |The mini-kitchen was dirty, as was the windowsills and couch (as the cushions appeared unclean, I stupidly pulled them out to see how dirty they were underneath – big mistake) We didn’t sit on the couch. The carpet was stained, and the curtains had a dirty mark on them too. |Needless to say, the fridge had what looked like mould growing in it. I’m not sure which is sadder, the fridge or the permanently-open 7cm gap in the bathroom which allowed a cold wind to endlessly blow the shower curtain against your body as you manoeuvre in the small shower. This was topped off by the hot water running out. |This place is ok if you don’t have high standards or much money. But if you want to feel warm and clean, I suggest you go elsewhere. We didn’t bother complaining as the accommodating vibe just wasn’t there. |Oh, and I need to mention the old wall rattler air-conditioner for a heater, that huffs and puffs its way through the night like a tired old dragon.

Loved everything about this place. Incredible river views meant that it was always peaceful and felt so far from the town’s energy, though literally only a few hundred metres away from everything. Didn’t need my car to access the best of Bright for my four day trip.

The rooms are cheery and comfortable with everything you’d need. Will definitely be returning.

I stayed here many years ago with my family and had a fantastic experience. Visited again recently and something felt a bit different. Perhaps there's been a change of ownership? Still a decent, no-fuss motel with reasonable prices. Happy to stay here again during work trips.

Just stayed 2 nights recently, great motel, comfy beds, great pillows, excellent water pressure in shower, close to town and the river outside your door.

Motel was clean and tidy, good value for money.

Highly recommend, will stay again when in Bright.

I recently stayed at this hotel over the weekend and overall had a pleasant experience. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The location is a major highlight, especially if you book the Ovens River Facing rooms. The views of the Ovens River are stunning, and the peaceful surroundings make it a lovely spot to relax. There’s also a nice barbecue area, perfect for a walk and enjoying the outdoors.

However, I did notice a few minor cleanliness issues during my stay. There were hairs on the commode seat and leftover items like milk bottles from previous guests. While the hotel mentioned they were short-staffed, I hope they address these minor issues in the future. That said, the rooms were generally clean, and it wasn’t a major inconvenience.

The staff, possibly the owner or receptionist, were not as welcoming in person, but I received excellent service over the phone when confirming and changing my booking. The overall booking experience was smooth and efficient.

In summary, while there were some small issues, my stay was enjoyable, particularly due to the beautiful Ovens River-facing rooms. I hope the hotel takes this as constructive feedback to improve their service. I would still recommend this place for its peaceful setting and spacious rooms.

This was our third stay since the new owners have taken over and it just gets better every time. We are always greeted with warm welcome, every room we've stayed in has been cozy and clean and each time there has been further improvements around the motel. They're doing a great job freshening up the place. The location is perfect with town just a short stroll up the street. The rooms are set back from the street so they're really quiet. Definitely recommend. We even spotted a platypus in the river directly behind the motel!

Just stayed at Riverbank Motel for 5 nights what a great place on the Ovens River and the owners are fantastic very welcoming I differently will be back this is my 3rd time staying there can't wait to go back next year

Stayed for four days on a Big bus tour and had a wonderful time. The Beds are very comfortable with the added bonus of having an electric blanket. The Tea and coffee supplies were replenished and the Towels were changed each day. As they knew that we would be back late afternoon each day our room heater was turned on, which was very much appreciated. As we were a large group meals were provided by private arrangement. The meals were delicious and the service outstanding. They even opened up the bar at night for us. The new owners are very hospitable and slowly making improvements. I Highly recommend this motel for comfort, value for money and it is only a five minute walk into Bright.
