Stayed here for one night with my son on a trip.||Arrived later than usual, and it seemed the place was shut, as there are no light son downstairs in the old pub section. ||However, we were pleasantly greeted by the owner, Linda, who was the most affable and helpful lady.||She showed us around the hotel (which is for accommodation only upstairs) and we ended up having a great chat after we had been shown to our room (Slim Dusty themed room).||It transpired that we had attended the same Primary School a long time ago (different years), and had grown up in the same vicinity to each other.||She was a mine of information about the local area, and suggested a nice place to try for dinner.||The hotel is still in the process of being refurbished, but it is full of charm, and very welcoming with the veranda being a stand out.||If you are concerned by trains, then don't get the room next to the tracks, but for train buffs, it's ideal.||The room was very well furnished, extremely clean, with large comfortable beds.||The communal kitchen has everything you need, and the shared bathroom facilities are spotless, and well maintained.||I had a great nights sleep, and was refreshed in the morning. ||I would stay here again without hesitation, and would recommend it to others. Best to ring ahead and organize it that way for peace of mind.

With its zany renovations, and its clean comfortable affordable rooms, the Railway Hotel was a great place for a recent visit. I loved the attention to detail in the individually themed rooms and the friendly atmosphere. Accessible to public transport it was only 200 metres from a working train station and only a day trip access to local beaches to enjoy the mid North Coast's vibe. With Kempsey's main shopping centre and swimming pool within walking distance and great places to eat nearby I'm recommending this hotel as a must see destination to all..

Great value for money. It's a cheap hotel. The sheets were clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would like to see this place in a year's time with further renovations.

Fithly ammenities. Violent landlord that comes in at 1 am and abuses his tenants. ||||Apparently a year ago it was a great place. Then was sold to current owner.||||Never wasting my time or money on this dump again.

I did not enjoy my stay here. I was unable to check in during reception opening hours because "nobody is available to check you in right now". When I returned later they were very unprepared for my arrival and it took ages, and then staff proceeded to loudly build some furniture late at night while everyone was trying to sleep! I won't be returning.

theres something off putting about the place , last renervation was a very long time ago , high chance of grey n or black mould , rooms are tiny really tiny with no change room , possible black hole agent pawns on site, avoid

Lovely room with a fantastic wide verandah with great views. It was a shared bathroom but it was very clean.
