What an experience! I enjoyed the full day out on the Tully. From the moment we boarded the bus to Tully, the fun didn’t stop until we were safely returned to our accommodation, pretty much in one piece.

We were lucky enough to have not one, but two kick ass River Guides, Mat and Tom, leading us down the Tully.

Mat and Tom were able to perfectly balance the jokes/banter (ensuring we enjoyed every minute), the info sessions (allowing us to fully understand what makes the land and water so special), and safety. While the rafting itself was an exhilarating experience to say the least, and while you truly are at the mercy of the rapids, Mat and Tom kept us feeling safe for the entire journey. We were even lucky enough to experience the chaos of a raft flip in a controlled setting!

10/10 experience, the highlight of our trip to Cairns, and I can’t wait to do it again!

Thanks to the guys at Raging Thunder!!

We loved our rafting trip! Lots of flies that love tasty blood wear bright colors. Worth the long drive from cairns. Don’t listen to dumb reviews the guides make it fun! Our guide got us thrown in the water multiple times. They did it safely. A little toooo safe in our opinion. rafting is for danger in a good way! Go to Disney land kooks! Fear is the mind killer! We don’t dig boring rafting trips!

We had such an incredible time! Despite the mosquitoes, it was an unforgettable experience. Our captain, Tom, was the highlight—so funny and full of charm. We’ll definitely ask for him when we go rafting again! Hopefully next time I’ll gather the courage to jump in and swim, haha. Please give our warmest regards to Tom.(love from China?)

I have joined this Tully river rafting today. They said it is rarely to flip the raft but my raft did flip and everyone is under the water. I lost my glasses and the right feet shoe I rent from them. I also get injury at my both knees. They have mentioned some items shouldn’t be brought with me but not the glasses . I didn’t know why such an important thing no one alert me while I wearing my glasses to get on board. Secondly, the shoe they gave me was half broken, the bandage (I didn’t know how to describe this part of the shoe.) was break off. I asked two guides but they all said ok to me. Obviously it was not ok because it becomes river garbage now. When the raft was flipping. I lost my right feet shoe and got injury by unknowing object. I got bloody and no medicine support. The Japanese guide said no word about the flip and ignore my injure, I did even lost my glasses but he said it was my fault with smile. After the rafting, He asked me to lifted the raft even though I have injure on my knee and lost the shoe. I suffered a painful lift and got my knee more worst. The way is even Stoney and spiky and I had to walk with weight and bare foot. He didn’t listen to my complaints and mocked me “You should learn from the Korean guy, he had to have the military training”. What an unknowing person. As a Taiwanese, we also have to have compulsory military training as well. And he also ignored my bloody knee and the painful foot. This is the first time I am disappointed with a Japanese. I have met so many Japanese before and even joined a Japanese society to learn Japanese and to meet more Japanese. Everyone is nice but today my impression of Japanese is updated today. Thanks you the Japanese guide. I have a terrible trip and I will never go rafting again. After that. I asked for bandage. They said they would give me in a moment. However, no one gave me any medicine support. I was still bloody while I got on the bus. This was very bad. Thank you Cairns Adventure Group and the Japanese guide you give me an unforgettable memory. For those who want to plan a rift trip. Of course there is 99% chance to have a wonderful trip. But don’t forget there is still 1% chance to have a terrible trip and have property lost and injure with no concern. If you are a risk averse person. Or a person who will always buy an insurance while traveling. Don’t go there. I’m so mad that even though I have to type this comment with bare eyes and so difficult to see the keyboard, I typed this comment right after I got on the bus.

Awesome upbeat spirit of the guides and crew. Chris (Kris?) was extremely knowledgeable, funny, fun, and one of the most easygoing guides I’ve ever seen. He knew I was the adrenaline junkie type and he delivered Was also very careful to keep ppl all safe. Give this man a raise!
One suggestion for management: After the rafting is over, it would be nice to have at least a makeshift wall for the ladies to dry off and change. Changing on the side of the bus with muddy ground was not pleasant at all.
Overall, extremely fun experience and the scenery is incredible as well!!

A MUST do in Cairns! Everyone is friendly and helpful. Our guide Tom is funny and accommodative, if you want the boat to flip or drop backward or simply go a dip in the river he will know when/where is safe to do so.

Yes there is some waiting time for other boats to get through but the whole experience is about 3 hours, you will get tired from paddling so just chit chat and get to know your boat members!

And definitely buy the photos LOL

We had an incredible time and can't recommend this company enough.

I am quite nervous around water so I was very skeptical about doing whitewater rafting however this turned out to be one of my favourite days of my trip. Our guide Angelo was amazing. As I'm not the strongest of swimmers, I was nervous about getting out the raft in areas where it was safe to be out. Angelo was very reassuring and encouraging throughout the whole trip and I'm very grateful that he encouraged me to get out as it was one of my favourite parts of the trip. Angelo was also a very good teacher. There was a language barrier with some of the group on the raft and he made sure to give instructions in all languages (which you can hear in the videos below). He also taught us a lot about the rainforest and the Tully River, all whilst having a great sense of humour.

Angelo made an already great experience 10 times better, so thank you!

The pictures the photographer gets are great too!
