We went on a walking tour of the Dordogne in Southern France with Pyrenees Walking Tours in May 2025.
It was excellent!
Our hosts, Patrick and Robbie, really looked after us. They are a delightful couple and their planning and attention was excellent.
The walks took us through some beautiful countryside and picturesque towns and villages. It wasn't too strenuous. I'm nearly 70 but am reasonably fit. Walking poles are a good idea, but they are provided if you don't have any.
We stayed in a pleasant chateau/hotel where the service was friendly and excellent, and fanned out from there for walks each day and related excursions, usually being taken by bus to and from the locations where we walked. The hotel was located in Monpazier, a really lovely town.
All meals were provided, including the occasional picnic lunch and/or dining in some picturesque settings. The food was excellent and included significant local seasonal produce and local wines. French food and wine does not disappoint.
I really engoyed every minute of it. Well worth the price.

Another fabulous stroll! through stunning areas of France with Patrick and Robbie.
The food, wine, accommodation were all of the highest quality.
And Patrick & Robbie sure know how to give you the best. Their knowledge of the Dordogne is unsurpassed.
This is our second tour and the third one beckons.

The most wonderful walking holiday in France with Patrick and Robbie from Pyrenees Tours. Staying in the one hotel for the whole week was a huge bonus. The accommodation is excellent and so were all of our meals. Because Patrick and Robbie are locals they shared so many awesome experiences with us that you definitely wouldn’t find on your own. Meeting new, wonderful friends on the walk has added to an amazing experience.
The walking was absolutely doable and we had breathtaking vistas around every bend.

The Dordogne walking tour is a magic combination of quaint, French villages, castles, stunning scenery, local markets and gourmet cuisine. Every day is a wonderful, new experience!
Patrick and Robbie make this tour truely remarkable. Their local knowledge, expertise and careful planning ensure amazing days and the needs of the walkers are always a priory. Staying at the exquisite chateau in the charming old village of Monpazier was a highlight in itself. The daily hikes with a group of like minded travellers were a treat but when accompanied by delicious treats of the region and good wine, it leaves me thinking - “Can I join the next tour? I’m ready to tackle the Pyrenees!”

My husband & I had a great time on the Basque region walk. Both Robbie & Patrick know their stuff and ensure that our time in this part of the Pyrennes is stress free and enjoyable.
The accommodation is great the meals are exceptional and our fellow walkers were enjoyable

My wife and I have now been on two Pyrenees Tours and have thoroughly enjoyed both. The owners/leaders Patrick and Robbie are very knowledgeable, experienced and a joy to travel with. Patrick having grown up in the Pyrenees ensures that you will experience aspects of local life and you will visit sites that you will not find in the tour book. With the assistance of Fred another local who is in charge of transport (bus) the seven day experience runs very smoothly. All accommodation and meals are of a high standard and enhance the experience of French life. We will travel with Patrick and Robbie again and highly recommend their tour.

My Basque Region walking tour in September, 2024 was amazing.
Escorted by Robbie & Patrick Arrieula, who attended to all our needs on a daily basis and also pre/post information and assistance .... they left nothing unturned.
The walks were measured with beautiful surroundings, a mix of challenges and easy walks including visits to small towns in the region.
Accommodation was excellent as was the fabulous food we experienced. A number of visits to farms and tastings was another unexpected offering.
A great group of likeminded people sharing and enjoying themselves.
Transport provided in an air-conditioned coach with a great and helpful driver.
I would recommend any tours organised by Pyrenees Tours as they are Professional, fun and value for money.
