My wife and I did this amazing river cruise with Alan and his historic boat Rubeena from Port of Sale today. Alan's knowledge of the rivers, the local indigenous people, the wildlife, the swing bridge and a host of other subjects never ceased to amaze. This is a must-do activity when visiting Sale.

Alan wasn't a huge fan of "Yanks" maybe it was because Australia only has 2 swing bridges and one wasn't working at the time, the La Trobe and the States has 300. Reason was because some kids stuck a bottle in it or something. Or maybe because I pointed out the wildlife before he did 😉 All JOKES aside Alan is awesome and is very knowledgeable about the area and is a really cool bloke, glad to see he is still running that historic electric boat 5 years later. Highly recommended tour if you in the area!

We really rated our visit to 'Port of Sale', and after doing a nice lakeside & Botanic Gardens walk hopped on the 10am 'Heritage Cruise' on the EMV Rubeena with 81 yr old owner/skipper Alan - my word that bloke knows his stuff - bloody great way to spend a couple of hours on the waterways, and we salute the wonderful knowledge of Alan

The host is the nicest man you'll ever meet. He is extremely knowledgeable about Sale and surrounds and clearly has a passion for his work. The Rubena itself is the oldest continual running boat in Victoria. It's a very cool and informative experience.

I loved this cruise, it was the perfect Birthday Present.
We are new to the area and I was curious about the wetlands and Port of Sale because it is such a beautiful and unusual area.
Alan our guide was great, he was amazingly knowledgeable and shared so much interesting history of the area.
I 100% recommend it if you love history, bird life or just want a relaxing cruise up to the swing bridge.
