This breathtaking vista captures the serene beauty of a tranquil lake nestled amidst rolling hills. The crystal-clear waters of the lake reflect the azure sky above, creating a mirror-like surface that amplifies the surrounding landscape's grandeur.
The hills, adorned with a tapestry of verdant foliage, cascade down to meet the lake's edge, forming a harmonious blend of nature's artistry. The rugged terrain, etched with time and weather, adds a touch of raw beauty to the scene.
From this elevated vantage point, the world unfolds in a panorama of tranquility and majesty. The air is crisp and clean, carrying whispers of nature's symphony. The sun's gentle rays bathe the landscape in a warm, golden glow, casting long shadows that dance across the hills.
This is a place where time seems to stand still, where the hustle and bustle of the world fades away, leaving only the serenity of nature's embrace. It's a sanctuary for the soul, a reminder of the simple yet profound beauty that surrounds us.

Magnificent views. Well worth the walk. Be warey of the track you choose, the one we took was exorbitantly steep even though it was only a 2-3 km walk. Perfect for hikers but for someone not as fitness enthusiastic it can be a challenge.

Pinnacle Lookout is a must-visit! The view from the top is breathtaking, but the real highlight is the journey itself. The hike takes you through stunning landscapes, unique rock formations, and challenging trails that make the experience truly unforgettable. However, it’s not an easy climb—those who haven’t hiked before should definitely prepare, as I’ve seen people struggle, blackout, or even vomit partway up.

Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes for grip and support, as the trail can be tough. The experience is absolutely worth it, and the sense of accomplishment when you reach the top is incredible. One of the best hikes out there—highly recommended!

A beautiful walk from wonderland carpark, taking in the grand canyon and silent street on the way up.
A moderate walk with a little bit of scrambling required. My 4yo was able to do it so not too difficult. Make sure you take water and a snack.

Hiked this strenuous trail from Halls Gap up multiple steep steps to the top at Pinnacle Lookout then back through the Grand Canyon. Having had a total knee replacement and a heart ablation over the last 8 years at 61 I wanted to get out and enjoy a level of mobility I haven't had for a long time but this hike was more strenuous than I had anticipated. With many rest breaks along the way plus a 30minute stop at the top it took just over 5 hours . A fantastic hike with amazing views but my knees really struggled with the height of some rocks/steps.

We trekked from Sundial carpark to the Pinnacle which took about an hour. The trek was easy to walk with markers to indicate to the Pinncale. The view up there was truly amazing and definitely friendly for beginners who wish to take 2 to 3 hours for a trek.

Such a beautiful view at the top. Started from down in halls gap all the way up.

Was quite lengthy walk so make sure to pack lots of water and take frequent breaks.

If your up for a Challenge start from the caravan park and get a few extra kms.

We visited Halls Gap during the second week of school holidays on 01/10/2024. Our group included 2 adults and 3 kids aged 5–11. After traveling from Ballarat, we arrived to hike at 2 PM but realized it was too late, so we decided to stay overnight in Halls Gap.

The next day, we started our hike at 9 AM with perfect weather—20°C and sunny. Our route began in Halls Gap, passing through Venus Baths, then Splitters Falls, and onward to the Grand Canyon, before reaching our target: the Pinnacle Lookout.

For our return, we took the shortest route back to Halls Gap without any stops. While faster, this path was slightly more challenging, as it was steeper and narrower in some sections.

Overall, it was an amazing hike! We encountered many kind hikers along the way, and the trail was well-suited for all ages. The hike took us about 6 hours in total. For those looking for a shorter hike, starting from Wonderland Carpark is a great option.

Tips: Bring plenty of water and snacks. For a refreshing end to your hike, consider a cold bath at Venus Baths—perfect for kids and adults alike.

We’ve attached a map of our route for reference. Highly recommended!
