You will not be disappointed coming to this viewing platform. There were several local volunteers showing and explaining to the visitors about the Little penguin colony here. The adults are hunting out in the ocean and coming back to feed the youngs after last light. So you'll get to see them coming ashore in the dim red light and walking/hopping towards the nests. Really educational for the kids. And don't forget to make a donation.

Penguin viewing time best at sunset.
Well done to the Penguin volunteers for keeping this natural experience so well kept.
I rode my bicycle from town to here. There are a few good hills, but a very picturesque 7km bike ride.
Unfortunately, it was 4 pm when l got to viewing platform, so no Penguins to see. I'll be back again.
You can go along the path to the beach up until 6 pm. Then it closes.
The sign says after 9 pm is the best penguin viewing time.
The walkway & platform are great for viewing. The beach is beautiful to walk on too.

It is free
Easy access. Carparks.
Volunteers come here to standby before sunset. It's just a small wooden platform.
Visitors can go through the gate to the beach. The gate will be closed after 6 pm. The wild penguin will be back to the beach around 9pm. Please keep quiet and keep the place clean.

Magical little spot to see fairy penguins! We arrived just prior to sunset and got very lucky to see two penguins pottering around under some bushes. Then after dark, as people began to gather, we watched parent penguins come back from a day at sea hunting to feed their chicks! Magical but be warned it is absolutely freezing. Well worth the stop!

Been here a number of times great view from the decking that has been built. Best time to see Penguins is at nighttime. I have seen them just after dark and even later between 9 pm till 10 pm. Well worth a stop.

I had trouble standing for so long waiting for the action. There is a large ’seat’ but you won’t see anything at all from there.
The guides were great. Very difficult to get good pics or videos once there is only the red light for visibility.
Very adorable experience.

I really enjoyed watching the penguins up close. They don't come up the beach until it is dark and they feel safe. They can be a little hard to see as the only light you can use is infra-red. It was also cute seeing the babies wait for their parents to return. I advise you to take an infra red torch with you because without one you have to rely on the rangers or someone else to provide the light or you won't see anything. We got there really early and it was a long wait. Take warm clothes as it gets cold. It can also be very popular and crowded. We found getting a front row spot wasn't the best option as the penguins are hard to see coming up the beach. You are better off hanging back and following the rangers as they will follow the action. As the crowds dissipate it gets even better as you will find young waiting for their parents to return and experience their reunions up close. The pictures don't really do the experience justice.
