You know you have a good local when they remember your order.

Later update, this is still the best local in the area. There has been many renovations happening lately, but the bar is still open and offering great service and prices.

Delicious food. Has a menu for kids and as well as seniors. Good value. Opposite the train and very near tram stop.
It does have pokies as well as the tv screen.
Can get busy.

Just enjoyed an excellent, & excellently priced, steak at the Palace Hotel in Burke Road, Camberwell (actually this side of the street it's Hawthorn East, but let's not a quibble). Apparently the Palace is partially closing soon for a major refurb, returning mid-2025 with what hopefully will be a five-star atmosphere. Best staff here, btw.

I've been to the upstairs private function room for a couple birthdays. And last week on the Saturday I came here for a school reunion. We had reserved three tables for the evening. We were told by the staff at one point to be seated and not stand in the way of the live music (I thought that was a bit ridiculous) but I suppose it was for the sake of the performers and other patrons. Overall, the pub itself has good food and drinks. Thank you!

Update: I came here again with a couple friends. We ordered the chicken Parma and beef burger with chips. Unfortunately the drink (just a lemon lime and bitters) took 20 minutes to arrive and we had to remind the staff to actually bring it out. Other than that, the service was pretty good and the food was tasty. Thank you Palace Hotel staff 🙂

We just had some delicious pita pizza and beer with some amazing live music.
I love the place and beer of the month deals. Loved it when I was young and broke 20 years ago. Love it still when I am old and little less broke.
It is also a nice place to grab a beer on my way home from Camberwell station.
The atmosphere is comfortable - good seating and footy or cricket are always on. Service has always been friendly too. Hope they keep up the good work.
