Our experience on the Oyster Bay Tours was exceptional, thanks to Declan, our charismatic and knowledgeable host. His engaging storytelling and knowledge about oyster farming made the tour memorable. From donning waders to learning how to shuck oysters, every step was interesting. Tasting fresh oysters paired with local Riesling was the perfect finish. If you're after a truly unique and immersive experience in Tasmania, look no further than Oyster Bay Tours! Booking online was a breeze, and we were able to secure a spot just the day before our tour in November—perfect for last-minute plans.

The tour kicks off with a short drive from the Freycinet Marine Farm car park to a working oyster farm, where we donned waders and stepped into the cool waters of the Swanport Estuary. Declan, our knowledgeable and charismatic guide, walked us through the entire oyster farming process, from cultivation to the art of shucking. We even got the chance to try our hands at shucking our own oysters, and we got the hang of it pretty quickly! But if you needed a little extra help, Declan was right there to lend a hand.

With just the four of us on the tour, it felt like a truly personal and intimate experience, allowing for plenty of time to ask questions and enjoy the surroundings. After learning how to harvest and shuck oysters, we enjoyed the freshest oysters and delicious cooked mussels, paired with a glass of local wine on the peaceful riverbank.

Wow!! This tour is up there in my top 5 of tours 8 months into our Australia Lap. I learnt SO MUCH about oysters, including how to shuck them, which I have been dying to learn!!!
Declan is so great and happy to talk about anything and everything! I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a real immersive experience!

Best tour ever. We drove down from Launceston and had a great time. Learned alot about oysters. Did you know that they can be your pets ?.
The experience was educational and entertaining. The tour completed with a dozen of oysters and a bowl of amazing steamed mussels.
