No more old-school breakfast hatches! We booked specifically to enjoy a hot breakfast delivered through the nostalgic, retro breakfast hatches, but they no longer use them. This wasn’t made clear on their website. The classic neon sign out front is only half working. Otherwise, the rooms are clean, beds comfortable, and the new owners are friendly enough

Such a great location and the rooms are very clean! Nice big towels too. Our room however was so noisy with traffic and the bed was so uncomfortable. We just rolled into the center. I know we got a great deal but you still expect to get a decent sleep.

Beautiful rooms – very pretty and with some lovely complimentary touches. Even the bathroom has plenty of space. The kids loved it! Great location, close to many attractions.

The rooms are a good size although dated everything was super clean & functional.
Comfy beds, great shower, fabulous location. Loved it. Would stay again.

Stayed here with some mates for a night of drinking in Bendigo. Just used the room to sleep, didn’t drink in there make heaps of noise or get any complaints at all. They checked the cameras just to see how many people we had staying in the room so they could scam us out of a couple hundred more bucks because we had a couple extra people in the room. I’ve never heard of anywhere that even cares about that.

Terrible experience staying at Oval Motel Bendigo in Feb. when had a work trip with another 3 Colleagues. Initially we made bookings via Booking.com which was $134. After we arrived, Carolyn encouraged us to make booking through reception. Next day, when we made booking via Gary who gave us invoice $139 instead of $134 as Carolyn promised same price of $134 over the phone. Very sneaky and dodgy!
After that we made a few other bookings for another few days of staying, but unfortunately one of us had to leave a day earlier. Discussed with Gary at 8AM at reception, he said: “ok, I will give you a call at about 2 PM to inform whether you can cancel it or how much refund you will get.” We stated very clearly that if their policy says we can’t get refund, we will keep the room for another staff. 1. Didn’t receive call from Gary. 2. Went to see Caroly at about 5, who said: no refund, can’t keep room for you too. Well, why can’t you inform us in the morning while we were standing at reception asking Gary all these questions, Who just wanted to mislead us the information and made us believe that you are working on it, will let us know at 2 PM? Why can’t you just say to us directly : no, our policy says nil refundable if you cancel booking. We would’ve kept the room for another staff and not return the key. But Gary asked us to return the key, and said: I will discuss with Carolyn and give you a call.
Terrible people are only after money.
We’ve informed Police on that day, they came and advised Carolyn do not charge customer ( us) more money, also Carolyn wanted us to check out before 8 AM next day- Police said “ why they need to check out that early? They will check out at usual time. Don’t make your own rules to public!”
Hope everyone are aware before you make booking to this motel.

The Oval Motel was a perfect place for my family of 5. It was comfortable and clean and the bathroom is well laid out for multiple users. It was easy to find and parking was right out front. It's an easy walk to Bendigo sights. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We were all really impressed. We purchased breakfast which was delivered to our room through a small door to the delight of the kids. It was a generous and delicious breakfast. We would stay here again and recommend it to others. We stayed in the room with a large bed and 3 single beds so the 5 of us could be in one room.

What a disappointment. After staying at the Oval on previous trips to Bendigo the property has now lost it’s shine. Its is now 2.49 am and the overpowering room spray is burning my eyes and throat, I have all the windows and door open, needless to say I do not feel comfortable. |The property is no longer spotless under the new management, dirty ashtrays, marks and stains on the bed linen and sofa leave a lot to be desired.
