Pre-booked a taxi by phone in the morning for the same afternoon, booking accepted. The pickup time came and went. Rang the office, man apologised and said they were very busy, said the driver was very close, and also said they’d be there as soon as a driver was available - contradictory and no ETA available. We were heading for a wedding and would have missed the ceremony, but luckily a local chap where we were staying offered to drive us there.
Called the office to cancel, a lady answered and also apologised. I asked her if I could book a taxi home for later that night, just after midnight, and she said she could put a request in but they will turn up whenever they can depending on demand at that time, not an actual pre booked collection time. She said it would be just like this one, the one I was cancelling.
This was NOT what I asked for when booking before, and nor was I advised the firm worked in that manner. If a taxi firm accepts a pre booking, I expect them to plan for that and arrive. If that’s not how they work, they shouldn’t have accepted the job.
Anyway, I agreed to that arrangement for the midnight pickup, and to their credit they arrived bang on time. Driver was pleasant. Cash or card accepted.
So a mixed experience.
