We were here for the Carlton 30 year reunion of our premiereship so we enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the bistro prior. It’s the first time my husband and I had a seniors meal and it was a fab roast for $19! Still feel way too young for it but hey. And our night with Kouta Diesel and Sticks was brilliant. Who knew Diesel is a comedian.

I don’t normally leave reviews like this, but last night’s experience at the Olympic Hotel in Preston was beyond disappointing — it was revolting.
We arrived at 5:30pm and sat down for what we expected to be a nice meal. I ordered the lemon pepper calamari, and to my absolute horror, found a moth or some kind of bug buried in the dish. It made me feel sick to my stomach. We called the manager, Danny, over — he looked at it, took the plate without a single word of apology, and walked off. No concern. No remorse. Nothing. Just a cold, careless attitude. Only that one dish was refunded. After something like that, the entire meal should have been on the house.

My friend ordered the veal schnitzel and was given a seniors portion — despite never asking for one. When we questioned it, the waitress said she assumed my friend wanted the senior meal because they were “looking in that area” of the menu. Are you serious? That’s the logic you’re running with? Again — no apology, just more poor excuses.

The waitress also said they were “under the pump” — but there were barely 20 people in the entire venue. If that’s what overwhelmed looks like, then this place is in trouble.

The whole experience was a joke. The service was sloppy, the food was unhygienic, and the manager, Danny, set the tone for an appalling lack of professionalism and care.

Disgusted is an understatement. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me.

Our daughter’s 21st at 31 Below was exceptional! From Adrian’s initial booking to Alex’s flawless coordination and outstanding service by Nathan, Nick, and Jhon, every detail was handled with precision. The staff .. above and beyond: friendly, attentive, efficient, and detail oriented, making our guests and the birthday girl feel truly special. The room’s beautiful styling, with couches, bar tables, soft lighting, candles, and a wood-paneled bar, created the perfect ambiance.

Communication was seamless before and during the event, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious and incredibly plentiful, huge thanks to the talented chefs, as our guests couldn’t stop raving about it! Special thanks to Stefan, the security guard, for regularly checking in, ensuring everyone’s safety while having fun and adding an extra layer of care and reassurance.

Alex’s follow-up message the next day was the perfect finishing touch. The service, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality are unmatched. This isn’t our first function here, and we’ll certainly be back. Huge thanks to the entire team for making this milestone celebration unforgettable! Highly recommend the bistro and function rooms! 🙌🏼

Had an issue with items on the menu but the staff helped and sorted the problem with a good substitute.

They do offer table service that's rare in a pub
Very clean and would definitely come back.
